SURREAL comedy sketch duo the Pajama Men tour their new show, 2 Man 3 Musketeers, to Cumbria later this month.

The award-winning, shape-shifting and spectacularly surreal character-based double act, will appear at the Brewery Arts Centre, in Kendal, on Friday September 30.

The Pajama Men tour began at the Edinburgh Fringe in August, before visiting venues across the UK for the rest of the autumn.

Their first epic novel adaptation, 2 Man 3 Musketeers premiered to critical acclaim at 2015’s Melbourne International Comedy Festival before an acclaimed run at last year's Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

Mark Chavez and Shenoah Allen's latest ambitious undertaking is a live, comic, existential meltdown that takes place as the two comedians attempt to stage Dumas’ epic, historical, romance novel from 1844 - all in under one hour.

In the bowels of strange venues and random hotel rooms in nine different cities across three continents, the pair have made the classic novel their own - joined early in the process by American writer and improviser Tim Sniffen, and later by Argentinean musician Ignacio Agrimbau - filling it with gay centaurs and talking birds.

The show is scored with a Khaen - a Thai mouth organ you play with your face - a Chinese reed instrument called a Hulusi, and a Gyil xylophone from West Africa, as well as a bunch of other bizarre instruments from around the globe.

Jetlagged and under slept, the Pajama Men performed and improvised the show in Australia, and as it came into its own they have subsequently fallen in love with it.

With plans to share the best work from their London stage with greater audiences across the world, Soho Theatre are working with associate venues who share the same ambition for quality and new audiences, touring work to festivals, across the UK and internationally, including Australia, Japan, India, South Korea, USA, Canada, Croatia and Ireland.

Producing several DVDs of headline performances each year, the range currently includes Pajama Men’s Pterodactyl Nights.

Sarah Dodd, Soho Theatre touring producer, said: “With their unique and wonderfully weird theatrical comedy, the Pajama Men have always felt like a perfect match for Soho Theatre.

"Having worked with them since 2009, with several sell out and often extended seasons at Soho Theatre, West End runs and as part of our Edinburgh Festival Fringe programme, we’re very excited to be able to bring this brilliantly inventive and truly original comedy act to an even wider audience as part of our newly expanded touring programme.”

The Pajama Men come to Kendal on Friday September 30, from 8pm. Tickets are available from the Brewery Arts Centre box office.
