TEN acts have been confirmed for an outdoor music festival in South Cumbria this summer.

Grizefest 2017, taking place at the Community Hall in Grizebeck on August 5, has announced its full line-up for the event.

Bands from across the region, as well as a couple with Cumbrian connections, will be heading for the small village near Kirkby for the all-dayer.

King Eider feature on the bill. The Edinburgh-based outfit, who have members originally from Ulverston and Broughton, have previously been named among Britain's best unsigned bands, and count Charlatans frontman Tim Burgess and BBC presenter Gaby Roslin as fans, while extensive radio play has led to high-profile bookings at Bestival, Kendal Calling and the prestigious Isle of Wight Festival.

Their sound encompasses certain aspects of Ben Howard’s melodic soulfulness, the drive of Mumford and Sons, and a flair for foot-stomping fun, reminiscent of Arcade Fire.

Established Dalton band The Prophets also make an appearance. Having been fixtures on the local circuit for more than a decade, the five-piece have built a strong reputation playing their own indie-influenced material.

Sad-Eyed Puffins are one of the best-known acts on the line-up, and they will be performing their off-the-wall pop rock material, showcasing songs from their two EP releases.

Eclectic progressive jazz band Valparaíso, who have played a handful of well-received live shows since forming earlier this year, find themselves on the bill, with highly-rated country rockers Dust Bowl Daredevils, led by American singer-songwriter Chuck Fish, and KITS - the side-project of Sootytern songwriter Jayson Turner - also ones to look out for.

Two singer-songwriters complete the line-up, with Lancashire-based Kendal Calling regular Molly Warburton, Righteous Bees guitarist Jack Hartley, and Furness music scene favourite Collie Stewart each playing acoustic sets of originals and covers.

The event runs from 2pm to 11pm on Saturday August 5, and will be moved inside the hall in adverse weather conditions.

A bar and food will also be available.

Tickets for the event will go on sale soon, with details at www.grizebeckhall.co.uk
