FOR the first show of the summer Grange-over-Sands and District Concert Club will hold a special gala event next week.

On Friday June 2, the respected Castalian String Quartet perform live at the Victoria Hall, in Grange.

Over the past three years they have won top prizes at major international competitions including third prize in the 2016 Banff International Quartet Competition, where they were the only European quartet to progress to the live rounds.

Last year they also won the audition to be selected for representation by the Young Concert Artists Trust.

Violinists Sini Simonen and Daniel Roberts, violist Charlotte Bonneton, and cellist Christopher Graves will be performing String quartets by Beethoven, Bartok and Brahms.

Formed in 2011, the Castalian Quartet studied with Oliver Wille of the Kuss Quartet at the Hannover University of Music, Dance and Theatre, all graduating with a Masters.

With the international acclaim they have rapidly emerged as an exciting voice on the international chamber music scene.

The gala concert starts at 8pm on Friday June 2. Tickets, which includes a drink and canapés, are available on the door.
