AN evening of acoustic sounds takes place on Walney this weekend.

The special Sunday event at The Crown, in North Scale, has nine acts confirmed to appear, headlined by popular unplugged pair Paper Cranes.

Jon Dawes and Beckah Lloyd have been performing together since 2012, supporting chart-topping acts such as Ocean Colour Scene and Nizlopi, and playing hundreds of gigs across the North of the country.

The guitar and drum pair have become one of the local scene’s best-known names and have ventured to festivals across the north of England, and are worthy headliners for this Sunday showcase.

Both Jon and Beckah will also be playing solo sets over the course of the evening too. Former Sevens drummer Jon has been writing and recording his own tracks, releasing them online since the end of last year, and Beckah has been performing more frequently of late too, including an appearance at Another Fine Fest earlier this summer.

In this event, billed as Paper Cranes & Friends, they call upon a host of talented individuals to join them.

Jordan Gaffney, frontman and guitarist with indie rock band Freshman, will go it alone for a set of his own tracks and well-known covers, while Serene's Kieran Day also gives a stripped-back flavour to some rock classics.

Righteous Bees and Mission to the Watchers member Jack Hartley, Mike Larkin, Ste Barker and The Blubirds round out the line-up.

The free event runs from 3pm until late, and includes a barbecue.
