Membership for Barrow Underground Music Society closes in under a fortnight, with the season opener already sold out.

All tickets for Ian McNabb of The Icicle Works' performance next month have been snapped up, and adding to the previously announced appearances from The Smiths drummer Mike Joyce and experimental pioneer Paddy Steer, there are another two nights of world class electronic music on the way.

Leading North-West DJ Jon Kennedy will be the guest as Sonic Zoo Radio's Zoo-ology show goes live, broadcasting around the globe. He joins presenter and well-known Barrovian producer and DJ Gripper for this special edition of the show, performed live in front of an audience.

Stockport-born Kennedy has been releasing music for more than 15 years on respected labels such as Brighton's Tru Thoughts Recordings, and Manchester's Grand Central. Now under his own label, The Jon Kennedy Federation, he has signed up a host of the best UK beat, bass and electronic artists, releasing a two-part album of his own.

Gripper has been hosting his online radio show, Zoo-ology, since 2011, creating a marathon showcase for new music, new releases and cutting edge new artists.

The show sticks to his musical ethos of finding the best new tracks out there, and blends a heady fusion of downtempo beats, deep electronica, funky world grooves and left field styles.

Zoo-ology has developed into an epic weekly show - often up to six hours long - and picked up a worldwide online following.

Tickets are now available for this event, on Saturday February 25, which will follow the format of the regular Zoo-ology live broadcasts from the Kashmir Lounge in Amsterdam, which have been a big success since starting in 2015.

Another night added to the programme is the first ATIC Records Basement Party, featuring artists from the label alongside esteemed friends and guests. The showcase night on Saturday March 18 will feature sets from Barrow's own international star and label founder, Aim, and North West favourites Il Bosco and Mikey D.O.N., as well as live performances from vocalist Niko.

Tickets are also selling well for The Smiths drummer Mike Joyce's much-anticipated DJ set at the venue, with its members lounge-style bar, in Carlisle Street, on Friday March 31. Ex-808 State man and experimental music icon Paddy Steer will be arriving in April, with a date yet to be announced.

To attend the shows, you must be a member of Barrow Underground Music Society - and applications close on Tuesday January 31.

Once membership closes, the only way you can access the gigs will be via invite from an existing member.
