RISING stand-up star Sophie Willan will be heading to Cumbria for two nights with her smash hit Edinburgh Festival show.

The young performer will be bringing her On Record tour to the Brewery Arts Centre, in Kendal, on Thursday March 16, and then moving on to The Beggar's Theatre, in Millom, the following night.

Willan was one of the breakout comedy shows of last year's Edinburgh Festival, and her sell-out run has helped establish her as one of the most exciting new performers in British comedy.

Having grown up in and out of care, at 23, the state unexpectedly delivered all of her personal files.

In her debut hour, On Record, she explores who she is today through the eyes of the numerous experts who assessed her growing up.

Both brutally honest and gloriously unpredictable, Willan takes inspiration from her unusual life experiences, to make bold, unapologetic and political work.

The award-nominated comedian visited Cumbria with her 2014 debut theatrical comedy, The Novice Detective, but this new show sees her in fine form as one of the most talked-about new stand-ups on the circuit.

She had previously enjoyed a sell-out run at the Edinburgh Fringe and at the Women In Comedy Festivals, and in 2015 was named Magners New Act at the Greenwich Comedy Festival.

Willan has also secured funding to create the dynamic multi-platform project Stories Of Care - working with care-leavers across Greater Manchester, it has become a national talking point, establishing her as one of the UK’s leading ambassadors for homeless and care-experienced young people.

Tickets for her appearances in Kendal and Millom are available from the respective venues' box offices.
