Grange-over-Sands and District Concert Club's latest show, this Friday (August 5) at the Victoria Hall, sees pianist Sam Haywood return, bringing his friends cellist Matthew Huber and violinist Maria Wloszczowska.

The show follows appearances last month from acclaimed clarinettist Julian Bliss and pianist James Baillie, and earlier performances in the series by the likes of Sara Beth Briggs, Savitri Grier and Richard Uttley.

Sam Haywood grew up in the Lake District and won second prize in the piano finals of the BBC Young Musician of the Year competition when he was 13.

Recently he toured the US with American violinist Joshua Bell and the Washingon Post hailed his "dazzling evocative playing".

He also performs regularly with the cellist Steven Isserlis, but on a recent visit to Singapore he met and performed with Matt Huber, and has called upon his talents for this Cumbrian concert.

Maria Wloszczowska is also in demand as a soloist and chamber musician worldwide and has won many prizes. She studied with Maxim Vengero, with whom she recorded a CD.

Their programme for the evening consists of Haydn's Trio in E major, Beethoven's Ghost Trio, Mendelssohn's Trio in D, and a Bach transcription.

Friday's concert starts at 8pm, and tickets are available on the door. Entrance is free to students and accompanied children.
