AWARD-WINNING British blues outfit King King are heading back to Kendal for a headline show in May.

The Glasgow band have called in at the Brewery Arts Centre on a number of their recent tours, and return once more on Thursday 4.

In October, they released King King: Live - a triple disc DVD and album featuring footage of their 2016 tours - and this latest run of shows will also feature a "greatest hits" set-list.

Having scored three radio hit singles on Planet Rock with the songs Crazy and Hurricane, and most recently Rush Hour, King King received a nomination for Best New Band at the 2015 Classic Rock Awards. They followed up with a UK arena tour supporting Thunder that was highlighted at a packed concert at London’s Wembley Arena, and as a result won them over a raft of new rock fans.

The band recently won five awards at the 2016 British Blues Awards, including Best Album for Reaching For The Light, Best Vocalist, Best Bass Player, Best Song for Rush Hour, and Best Songwriter, cementing their place as one of the country's best-loved bands.

In the history of the British Blues Awards, they had previously won Best Band three times in a row, their first two records landed Best Album, and frontman Alan Nimmo was named Best Male Vocalist for two consecutive years.

The band features Nimmo on vocals and guitar, Lindsay Coulson on bass, Bob Fridzema on keyboards, and drummer Wayne Proctor - all established names on the circuit.

Even before their live debut shook the Monaghan Blues Festival back in 2010, people were talking about King King. Nimmo was already a familiar face on the international blues circuit and the other three original members were highly-rated in their own right.

First came 2011's Take My Hand - quickly crowned Blues Album of the Month in Classic Rock - and the success was topped by 2013's Standing In The Shadows, which took them from Eastern Europe to Canada for sets that included the Ottawa and Mont Tremblant Blues Festivals, before a support slot on John Mayall’s 2014 UK tour propelled the band to another level.

Following a run in Germany, Austria and Hungary, they are now back touring the UK and returning to a venue in Cumbria that they are very familiar with.

The show in Kendal on Thursday May 4 starts at 7.30pm, and features support from up-and-coming Norfolk outfit Bad Touch. Tickets are available from the venue's box office.
