A NIGHT of rock and metal will be held at Fell Foot Wood next month, featuring a highly-rated visiting act among a host of local names.

Doncaster-based rockers The Temple will top the four-band bill at the woodland venue, near Newby Bridge, on Saturday November 4.

The four-piece outfit have shared the stage with many of the hottest prospects on the UK scene, touring with the likes of While She Sleeps, Cancer Bats and Blood Youth, and supporting Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes, Black Peaks, and Arcane Roots, and international names including Kvelertak and Skeletonwitch.

Their diverse sound, incorporating stoner rock, metal, psychedelic and punk, has only been featured on three singles so far - 2016's Medusa and Holy Fire, and recent release, Spiders - but more is expected from the up-and-coming outfit in the coming months.

Expect a set-list of originals that draw influence from acts such as Red Fang and Kyuss.

Furness outfit Red Shift also feature on the bill. With seven members, and both male and female vocals, they are known for their distinctive technical metal sound and all-action live shows.

Last year's Origins EP showcased the members' various influences, ranging from Pantera and Tesseract to Dream Theater and Nightwish, with material from the release set to feature at Fell Foot.

Originally an instrumental act, the three founding members all now take up guitar roles in the band, which blends technical time signatures and heavy riffs with much more melodic passages.

Groblin & The Ballistics join them on the night, playing their aggressive djent-inspired metal. The four-piece band changed their name back in the spring, having previously been known as Glass Houses - and while the old material still remains in the set, they have brought in a new bassist in Paint member and ex-Shotsfired man Danny Stone.

Completing the line-up are one of the area's best-known metal acts, Isolhate, who have been around for more than a decade now, and have played alongside heavyweights such as As I Lay Dying and The Bronx.

Fell Foot Woods' own Barry of the Blackwood will be performing his famed rituals at the event.

The site opens from 2pm, and camping tickets can be booked in advance by phoning 01539 531014.

A bar will be operating, and guests are welcome to bring their own drinks.

Non-camping tickets will be available on the doors.
