FESTIVAL favourites Honeyfeet will be making their South Cumbria debut with a live show later this month.

Stars of the acclaimed Manchester music scene, the seven-piece outfit will be appearing at the Coronation Hall's Supper Room on Friday December 23, presented by Dingo Barracks.

Playing an exotic mixture of jazz, folk, and hip-hop - sometimes labelled "folk-hop" and "Barrelhouse-pop" - they have spent the past eight years tearing around concert halls and festivals all across the UK, and as far afield as South America and continental Europe.

They have also played live sessions for BBC Radio 4’s Loose Ends, presented by Clive Anderson, among other stations.

Their debut album, It’s a Good Job I Love You, was released in November 2013, and also features contributions from the likes of ex-808 State man Paddy Steer and prolific songwriter John Ellis.

The band themselves are all highly-regarded performers, pulling together various musical backgrounds and drawing upon experience in a wide array of well-known bands.

Frontwoman Ríoghnach Connolly is a well-known folk and blues musician, and she is also visiting the county with one of her other bands, The Breath, at Carlisle's The Old Fire Station on December 13.

Fellow founder member Rik Warren has been a regular visitor to Ulverston with his blues side-project Walk and playing solo at this summer's Another Fine Fest.

Gus Fairbairn, Biff Roxby, Lorien Edwards, Ellis Davies and Phill Howley are the other regular members in this extensive and eclectic live act.

Support for the night comes from local act Sad-Eyed Puffins.

Usually a five-piece, the band mix an array of influences to create a sound that straddles alternative rock and experimental pop, and makes use of unique three-part vocal harmonies. Made up from some of the area’s better-known solo performers, the line-up includes former members of folk act Muscovados, and award-winning vocalist Rita Baugh.

Formed just over three years ago, the Puffins have been a big draw across the county with numerous festival appearances and headline shows aplenty. Their trademark feathered headgear encapsulates the unconventional nature of their live shows.

The show on Friday 23 starts at 7pm, and tickets are available in advance from the Coronation Hall box office.
