LIVE hip hop collective Granville Sessions will be appearing in South Cumbria this August as part of the latest Straight Outta Croftlands.

The eight-piece London collective have been brought in to headline the event at the Laurel and Hardy Museum, in Ulverston, which will see organisers Monster Monster team up with Barrow-based promoters Cartel.

In 2013, Granville Sessions followed up their debut release, No State, with an impressive full-length, Forward, which was shortlisted for Wordplay Magazine’s UK Hip Hop Album of the Year.

Having gigged extensively across the country off the back of the record, the band have gone on to release their most recent album, Monument, earlier this year.

Their live line-up features drums, guitars, brass and three MCs.

Granville Sessions were recently included in Time Out's "Five London hip hop acts you need to know about right now" article, to add to their increasing list of accolades and achievements, which has also seen them share the stage with the likes of Pharoahe Monch and Chali 2na of Jurassic 5.

The debut Straight Outta Croftlands packed out the Laurel and Hardy Museum last year, celebrating the entire history of hop hop - from the late 70s origins to the present day, and playing all styles within its broad spectrum.

DJ Sets from Monster Monster, HomeGrown and Cartel, spanning hip hop, funk, reggae, soul and more, will also be accompanied by enhanced sound, light, visuals and decor, while there will be street art installations on show throughout the museum.

Straight Outta Croftlands takes place on Saturday August 19, and tickets are on sale now from the venue and online at tickets.partyforthepeople.org
