A NEW landlord is in place at the Black Cock Inn, in Broughton, with a packed programme of live music announced for the remainder of the year.

Scott Mackenzie from Ulverston's Sun Inn has also taken over the running of this popular pub, as well as the Commodore Inn, in Grange - which is also stepping up its live music offering.

For the bank holiday weekend, the Black Cock welcomes a trio of live acts: Friday's guest is established local singer-songwriter Marc Atkinson, with talented Furness vocalist Cora May Brennan playing Saturday, and another solo act, Danielle Gallagher, appearing on Sunday.

Four of the five weekend slots in September are booked up already: Jonathon Patton brings his acoustic set to Broughton on Saturday 2, singer Denis Horan appears a week later, with young Barrow vocalist Devan Moore arriving on Saturday 16. Stephanie Smith rounds out the month's programme on Saturday 30.

The October list has three female singer-songwriters performing on consecutive weekends - Megan Doherty on Saturday 7, Ava Grace on Saturday 14, and Becy White on Saturday 21 - with the Bluegrass Project appearing on Saturday 28.

The following month kicks off with Steve singing live on Saturday 4, with acoustic blues from Mark Pratt on Saturday 11, and a return to the region for David Miller on Saturday 18.

The rest of the programme is due to be announced in the coming weeks. All shows start around 9pm and offer free entry.
