FOLLOWING a successful debut in south Cumbria earlier this spring, French rockers Jela will be heading back to Ulverston this weekend.

The Manchester-based trio are back at the Big Kings on Saturday night for a headline set.

In the three months since their last visit, they have been touring the UK non-stop.

With a large number of originals in their repertoire, expect a revised set for this latest Cumbrian visit, as they showcase their indie and 90s alternative rock sounds.

The trio - vocalist and guitarist Lucas Bernard, bassist Sam Artigau, and drummer Arthur Marechal - started out as a high school covers band in Uzès, South of France, back in 2011, and began writing their own material and turned professional a year later. In the three years since making their move to the Manchester area permanent, they have played across the country, with the occasional visit home.

Their move to the North West was inspired by their love for the likes of Oasis, The Beatles and The Smiths, which is in evidence in their live set that leans heavily on those acts, as well as incorporating elements of folk, post-punk, blues and electronic music.

Saturday's free show gets under way around 9pm.
