THE long-awaited debut appearance from new rock band Wolfpeake takes place in Barrow this week.

The four-piece outfit, featuring from members of pop punk acts Willowside Park and Greystone Avenue, have a live show at The Derby, in Dalton Road, on Friday, alongside The Sides, Falling Free and Northern Point.

While the band has been writing and recording since the spring, Wolfpeake only emerged with their first single last month.

The reception for the track, Hennessy, has helped to fuel the anticipation ahead of this live debut, and the band can't wait to hit the stage.

Bassist Arron Twinney says: "The feedback has been fantastic, both online and in person, with some comparisons to Lower Than Atlantis and Catfish and the Bottlemen.

"If anything it's made us even more hyped to play live.

"We are all really looking forward to playing live again - it’s been a while!

"We’ve been hiding away in our small practice space for a good few months now, finalising the set and we feel confident with what we have to show everyone.

"You can expect an energetic set full of hook-filled songs, which will leave everyone singing and hopefully wanting more."

Up-and-coming singer-songwriter Jack Hayes is backed by bassist Arron and drummer Callum Gibbons - both formerly of Greystone Avenue, Beyond Betrayal and All Becomes Clear - with Willowside Park's Sam O'Donnell completing the line-up on guitar.

The ambitious outfit have big plans ahead for more releases and tour dates for next year, but alongside this first hometown gig, they've also announced shows at The Bobbin in Lancaster on November 3, and Florence Arts Centre in Egremont on November 25.

For Friday's show, The Sides will be playing the role of headliners - the well-established young indie band bringing their full set of originals and covers.

With their new single, Colour of the Night, due to be released later this month, it is likely that new music will feature in the show. As well as playing well-known tracks by artists such as Courteeners, The Strokes and Arctic Monkeys, The Sides have recently been promoting their Hesitate EP and their summer single, Locked Up Love.

Lancaster pop punk outfit Falling Free and newly-formed acoustic act Northern Point complete the bill.

The free show gets under way at 7.30pm.
