SKATERS and Star Wars fans, jive dancers and drummers, rockers and crooners, grand cake bakers and wartime nostalgia fans all have plenty to enjoy as Coro All arrives this week.

There’s something for everyone in the line-up of fantastic events in August to celebrate Ulverston Community Enterprises taking over the running of the Coronation Hall and markets.

Coro All takes place from Tuesday August 16 to Sunday 21 and aims to introduce the hall and its attractions to a fresh audience while surprising regular users with new events and activities.

Ulverston Community Enterprises Chief Executive Charlie Rowley explained: “Regular users of the Coro can try something different and flex their creative muscles, but we are also aiming to encourage people who rarely use the Coronation Hall to try it on for size. We want to welcome everyone to share the Coro as the hub of events for all the family in Ulverston, with an emphasis on local events for local people.”

TUESDAY 16

It all starts with a fun Bingo Night, while visitors to the Coro will also be able to check out the Green Room Art Space Exhibition and Ulverston Memories, which recalls some of the wartime recollections of Ulverston people.

WEDNESDAY 17

Kirsten Taylor leads a feel-good singalong Family Yoga and Story Massage from 9.30am, followed by a Feel-Good Singalong with Kirsten Taylor from Songbirds from 10.45am, provides a nice relaxing morning before Geek Fest takes over the Coro from 3pm through to 10pm.

Geek Fest delves into the world of space, fantasy and comic books. Visitors will be encouraged to play classic console computer games, browse the stalls, learn about anime in a dedicated workshop. They are also being invited to add to the character of the event by dressing as their favourite movie or comic book character.

THURSDAY 18

Thursday starts with family fun as the Octopus Collective Chopping Board Orchestra hosts two sessions of inspirational and innovative music making at 10am and 11.15am. There’s an experimental choir workshop with Some Some Unicorn in the afternoon and then the Superfunk Roller Disco swings into action with two sessions - at 3.30pm and 5.30pm. Tickets are limited to 100 people per session so early booking is advised, and anyone without skates can hire them at the venue.

FRIDAY 19

It is the turn of Whalley Range All Star Puppets Theatre to entertain the whole family with their storytelling with shows at 1pm and 3.30pm. In between, The Playful Nature Craft Workshops will be continuing through the afternoon and in the evening the Coro will showcase some of the best local talent in Ulverston Rocks, from 8pm.

Local bands Wasted Saints, Serene, The Twitchers, The Degenerate Art Show and solo act Zac Thompson will take to the stage, and anyone who wants to take part can still send in their audition tracks or hand them in at the box office.

SATURDAY 20

Things get a little more strenuous with the chance to try your hand at rock climbing on the climbing wall, or take the opportunity to join in the Deatbeats drumming workshops at 10am and 2.30pm. The workshops are open to children aged eight upwards and there are 10 places per session.

On Saturday afternoon the Ford Park team will also be in the hall for a family workshop creating amazing Faerie Houses from some of the things our human world discards, while on Saturday evening Ben Lewis and Friends will take to the stage to showcase the best of the musical stage and modern ballad classics, in For One Night Only.

SUNDAY 21

The final day of the Coro All festival ends on a high note: local cakemakers will be competing for honours in the Great Coro Cake Competition - with all tasty and amazing creations welcome - and there’s a "Victory in Ulverston" wartime celebration recapturing memories of the community spirit which got the town through those dark days.

There will also be stories and songs from Steve Wharton and Graham Whalan will be recalling the history of the Coronation Hall itself.

During the afternoon, Ulverston Outsiders will present Fox and the Fells in the Supper Room from 2pm, and there will be rhymes of the times from Watershed, reciting poems about the Lakes in aid of Cumbria Flood Fund. The hall will also be home to community stalls and displays from local groups and organisations including The Civic Society, Incredible Edible, Ulverston Permaculture Project, and Ulverston's Canal Regeneration Group.

Finally, on Sunday evening, Ulverston will get on its dancing shoes to join the South Lakes Modern Jive session in the hall.
