FORMER Ocean Colour Scene guitarist Andy Bennett is set to perform solo in South Cumbria.

He performs tracks from his debut album, Thinkin', Drinkin', Singin', at The Derby, in Barrow, on Saturday August 19.

Bennett was with the Midlands Britpop icons for more than a decade, joining them for their fondly-remembered Royal Albert Hall show in 2004.

He also recorded three studio albums with Ocean Colour Scene, and featured on a string of live releases before he left in 2015 to pursue a solo career.

Prior to all that, he was with The Elements, who regularly toured the country as support to the band he later joined.

Bennett released his solo debut single Hole in the Road two years ago, which eventually led to the full-length album that arrived in November. Another of his tracks, Drift Away, also featured on BBC Radio Two.

The solo record is a compilation of tracks that he's been working on for many years, and has received strong reviews for its pop rock sound. It also features the track Old Pair of Jeans, which was a track he wrote with Ocean Colour Scene and featured on their 2010 album, Saturday.

That, along with tracks from the album and unreleased material, will feature in his set in Barrow on Saturday 19.

Music starts around 8.30pm, and support is yet to be announced. Entrance is free.
