ACCLAIMED Scottish folk performer Eddi Reader will kick off her autumn tour with an appearance in Cumbria.

The former Fairground Attraction singer-songwriter wrapped up last year's spring tour at the Brewery Arts Centre, and she will be back at the Kendal venue on Wednesday November 8 to get the 2017 run under way.

Highly regarded across the world for her prestigious 30-year recording career, she has received three Brit Awards in total, topping both the album and singles charts with her band, and was awarded an MBE for outstanding contributions to the arts in the New Year’s Honours list of 2006.

Last year she released The Best of Eddi Reader, which included the charming acoustic pop of 1988 chart topper Perfect, with Fairground Attraction, right up to her remarkable 2015 versions of the standard Moon River and Amy Winehouse’s Love Is A Losing Game.

While the previous tour focused on the material included on that record, the latest run of shows is expected to feature tracks from across her 11-album solo career as well as brand-new material.

For the 10-date tour, she will be joined by Dan Whitehouse, a well-known folk performer in his own right. The Midlands singer-songwriter has regularly been featured on BBC Radio 2 and 6Music, and recently released his new That's Where I Belong double album.

Eddi Reader and Dan Whitehouse appear at the Brewery Arts Centre on Wednesday November 8, and tickets are available from the venue's box office now.
