EMERGING artists from around the country will be heading to the Lake District this autumn for an annual residency.

Doremi2017, an Arts Council Funded arts project that takes place each year at different arts centres across Cumbria, will culminate in a public open weekend at The Coniston Institute, in Coniston, on Saturday October 14 and Sunday 15.

The first day will include an artist-led tour of the exhibition, workshops, lunch, and a film screening in the evening, with more details set to be announced nearer the time.

‘Doremifasolasido’ - aka Doremi2017 - is an artist-led annual group residency that invites emerging artists from all around the country to Cumbria to forge links between artists and arts organisations working in urban and rural settings.

Each year artist participants are selected by partners from across the UK to spend seven days living and working together, creating work from sculpture to performance and film, in response to the host site.

The week then culminates in a weekend of public events, including an exhibition, performances, artist film screenings and artist critiques.

This year Doremi is being hosted by The Coniston Institute and Grizedale Arts, and artists have been nominated by ACAVA (London), C-Art/Eden Arts (Cumbria), East Street Arts (Leeds), Grizedale Arts (Cumbria), Islington Mill (Manchester) and The Newbridge Project (Leeds).
