YOUNG performers from South Cumbria are being given the chance to show off their moves, with juvenile dancer auditions for this year's Barrow pantomime set to take place next month.

Shone Productions, the team behind the annual end-of-year extravaganza, will be holding open auditions for dancing roles in this year’s magical pantomime, Cinderella.

Successful children will perform alongside the professional cast and live band at The Forum this December.

Auditions will take place at the venue on Saturday September 9. Registration will take place at 3.30pm with the auditions beginning at 4pm and ending at approximately 7pm.

Budding dancers are asked to arrive at the main entrance of the Forum Theatre with a responsible adult.

Auditions are open to girls aged eight and over, no taller than five foot and must be energetic, confident and committed. As this is a dancing audition those wishing to participate must wear comfortable clothes and footwear suitable for dancing.

Those that are successful must be available for all rehearsals and their designated performances. Cinderella runs from Wednesday December 13 until Saturday 30, while the rehearsals take place on the mornings of Sunday September 10, Sunday October 15, and Sunday November 5, with technical rehearsals from November 6 to 12.

Last year’s panto, Peter Pan, was the most successful pantomime The Forum has had, breaking all box office records.

Panto producer James Shone said: “I am so excited to be bringing Cinderella to the Forum Theatre, we had a great time producing Peter Pan last year.

"Once again the production will feature all the elements from last year’s show and even more to deliver this up-to-date pantomime version of the classic story Cinderella. There will be something for the whole family and I know that everyone will have a great time.”

Anyone planning to attend the auditions should pick up a registration form from The Forum - available from September 1 - and bring the completed form to the audition.
