TV star and acclaimed DJ Craig Charles brings his Funk 'n' Soul Club back to Cumbria this month, joined by some special guests.

Having packed out the Brewery Arts Centre at Christmas, the Red Dwarf actor returns to the Kendal venue on Friday September 29, armed with another selection of classic anthems and rare cuts.

This latest appearance will see him joined by Snowboy and The Latin Section and acclaimed Boston soul singer Jen Kearney.

Alongside his TV career, which has seen him appear in Coronation Street and host shows such as Takeshi's Castle, Robot Wars and being recently announced as one of the new presenters of Channel 5's The Gadget Show, Charles has also been touring regularly with his BBC 6Music radio programme.

Over the years, he has featured on the bill at Cumbrian events such as Solfest and Moonfest, and been a regular guest at Kendal Calling.

Acting as an MC for the night, he will also be playing a two-hour set.

Support act Snowboy and the Latin Section are Europe’s leading Afro-Cuban jazz performers and recording artists, led by multi-percussionist Mark ‘Snowboy’ Cotgrove.

Having performed with the likes of Amy Winehouse, Mark Ronson and Incognito among others, Cotgrove has put together a dream team of musicians as The Latin Section, playing live son, salsa and mambo music.

This tour also marks the first visit to Europe for Jen Kearney. Having spent a lot of time experimenting with seasoning her particular musical style and flavour, her latest album, Age of Blame, is an amalgamation of musical styles ranging from soul, R&B and funk, to rock, Latin and jazz.

The Funk 'n' Soul Club comes to the Brewery Arts Centre on Friday 29, and doors open at 8pm. Tickets are available in advance from the venue's box office.
