ONE of Britpop’s best-loved names will be back in Cumbria later this year.

Dodgy were responsible for the memorable hits Good Enough and Staying Out For The Summer back in the mid-90s, both of which will feature in their stripped-back acoustic set at the Brewery Arts Centre, in Kendal, on Saturday November 11.

The trio of members involved in this acoustic tour were part of the line-up that started out 27 years ago.

In that time they have released six albums, countless singles, toured the world, criss-crossed the UK, and registered 12 Top 40 singles. They sold out the Brixton Academy for three nights in a row and were awarded an unprecedented 90-minute Saturday evening slot on the Pyramid stage at Glastonbury Festival.

Their fame took a turn for the worse when Britpop faded but Dodgy reformed six years ago, and have since played in Cumbria on a handful of occasions.

Now, back in action, Dodgy continue to release critically-acclaimed music and perform live to thousands of people every year.

In October and November they shake out, away from the festival season, with Dodgy Acoustic.

Nigel Clark, Andy Miller and Stu Thoy will perform in a series of intimate acoustic shows playing unplugged versions of Dodgy classics, delving into the vaults and unearthing forgotten gems and and the most requested songs from recent critically-acclaimed albums Stand Upright In A Cool Place and the current album What Are We Fighting For.

Frontman Nigel Clark says of playing these intimate shows: "Dodgy have always loved acoustic shows - the songs are written and rehearsed in acoustic format but they rock and we are loud.

"This is a chance to hear the songs in their melodic, harmonious glory."

Dodgy Acoustic comes to the Brewery Arts Centre on Saturday November 11, and tickets are available from the venue's box office .
