THE biggest Knockout Wrestling event of the season is set to take place in Barrow next month.

The fifth Anniversary Show at Cloud Nine on Sunday November 19 will be the culmination of the year's action, and feature some of the North West and Scotland's finest wrestlers.

Going head-to-head in the main event of the night for the Knockout Wrestling Championship will be Rick Markus and "Masked Sensation" Nightmare.

Nightmare has been trying to recapture the KOW Championship ever since he lost it three-and-a-half years ago, while Markus originally defeated Nightmare to win the vacant title earlier this year.

There's also the Street Fight, five years in the making, between "Thuglife" Taylor West and "War Machine" Craig Kollins - their first one-on-one encounter in five years of the shows, in what promises to be a war between two of the most brutal and feared competitors.

Another big highlight will be "The Greatest" Marc Morrellis versus Lucas Neon - Morrellis has been tormenting Neon for most of the year, costing him match after match, to the point where Neon challenged him to a match under a stipulation of Marc's choosing!

There is a return of the Vertigo Ladder Match, which is a six-man ladder match with a briefcase hanging above the ring; the briefcase contains a contract guaranteeing a title shot any time within the next year.

Among the other names competing will be King Ryan Grayson, "Smashmouth" Chris Ridgeway, Ryan Hunter, Sheriff Steele, KOW Showcase Champion "Unhinged" Will Carter, Tu Byt, "Mr Big" Shaun Vasey, Benny Munroe, E-Bomb, and C.I. Clyne.

General manager A.L.P. says: "We have always catered our events to be suitable for people of all ages, but we like to think that older fans can also enjoy our events as much as their younger counterparts.

"There are still more matches to be announced, and it's going to be a huge event - possibly our biggest of all time - but certainly our most important."

KOW presented its first event in November 2012 as a platform for local talent to perform on and expand their abilities.

Usually running six shows a year, including the Road to Gold and Anniversary Show events, the event has seen plenty of successes in its five years, having originally started out at the Cottages, in Barrow, until its closure earlier this year, before making the permanent move to Cloud Nine, in Dalkeith Street.

Alongside the shows, KOW also runs an Academy, and past graduates include current KOW Champion Rick Markus, current Showcase Champion Will Carter, Sheriff Steele, Tu Byt and Lucas Neon.

Once they've made it to the main roster, the trainees can then look to find opportunities to compete for promotions throughout the North West and the rest of the UK, which several of them have managed to do in recent years.

The Knockout Wrestling Anniversary Show takes place at Cloud Nine on Sunday November 19. Doors open at 4pm, with a bell time of 4.30pm. Tickets are available from the venue, or can be booked by messaging the Facebook page at www.facebook.com/KnockoutW
