A LEADING Furness covers band will be joined by one of the UK's finest tribute acts for a Super Sunday special in Barrow this weekend.

The ever-popular indie rock outfit The Dales top the bill once more at The Nines having featured at the Dalkeith Street venue numerous times over the years.

The five-piece run through their acclaimed list of hit tracks, with The Killers, Stone Roses, Stereophonics, Oasis, James, Kasabian and the Arctic Monkeys among their extensive repertoire.

Frontman Adam Kendall, guitarists Rory Swierkocki and Elliot Allan, and mainstay drummer Ste Philips, are joined by Kean Waddington, who was brought in on bass ahead of their previous bank holiday headline set at the venue.

The Jam DRC, a nationally renowned tribute to the heady music of Paul Wellers' punk, mod, and new wave power trio The Jam, join them on the bill.

A mutual love for The Jam is the driving force behind this authentic trio, named after the five-CD box set that gathers together pretty much everything the band ever recorded.

The song list is extensive and gets in all the popular numbers plus some unexpected ones, capturing what The Jam were like at their height and in their live element.

Classic singles, B-sides and album tracks such as Thick As Thieves, Little Boy Soldiers, Life From A Window, Billy Hunt, and the vitriolic Set The House Ablaze, are all delivered with mastery.

Ste Tyson, singer with local band The Prophets, will be manning the decks in between bands, with top tunes to keep the floor full.

Tickets are available now from Bar Five, or on the door, with a free drink on arrival, and a free Jagerbomb with your first drink ordered before 9pm, as well as free entry into The Nines' Gold Tickets draw, which has a top prize of free entry to The Nines for a whole year.

  • Anyone who attends Croft Rock, in Barrow, this Sunday will be allowed entry to The Nines in the evening with a valid wristband, at the discounted price of £5 and a free shot with their first drink purchase.
