A FUNDRAISING concert for an 18,000 trip will take place in Cumbria this week.

The live show at Ruskins, in Kendal, on Friday June 30 sees Scrogan's Run headline, with appearances from Paddy Rogan, Jake Dakin, Sam Robinson, Paper Cranes, Dawn Foster, Jimi Hodgson, Rick Rhodes, Dave Vanstone, and more.

Next month, The Rally Rascals will be driving from Kendal, all the way through Europe, Turkey, Iran, Mongolia to Siberia, in a 1990 Bedford Rascal van, all in aid of three charities: The Great North Air Ambulance, Cool Earth, and Little Angels Project.

The team consists of Sally Thompson, who works at Ruskins, and Cathy McConkey, who is from Sydney.

They are still a little way off reaching their fundraising target to make it happen, so have organised an evening of live music.

Scrogan's Run mix country and bluegrass into their sound, driven by guitar and banjo. The pair have made a big impression playing across the Lake District recently, and have been featured on the BBC Introducing radio show, as well as high-profile support slots with the likes of UK singer-songwriter Cara Dillon, and US star Lera Lynn at the Brewery Arts Centre.

Paper Cranes are another established duo, who have played shows all over the country, and supported chart-topping acts such as Ocean Colour Scene and Nizlopi.

More acts are still to be announced to appear at Friday's concert, which starts at 7.30pm.

Entrance is £3, and raffle tickets will also be for sale. All proceeds will go towards funding the rally, and in turn helping the charities.
