ACCLAIMED folk pop band Keston Cobblers Club will be bringing their new album tour to Cumbria later this month.

The British five-piece will be joined by Sydney-based singer-songwriter Jack Carty for their appearance at the Brewery Arts Centre, in Kendal, on Thursday April 27.

Keston Cobblers Club released Almost Home in March and are celebrating the record with a nationwide run of dates.

Over the last few years, the band has been steadily building a name for themselves and winning over an army of loyal fans. They’ve played some of the UK’s biggest festivals, including Glastonbury, Bestival, Cambridge Folk Festival, Wilderness and Green Man, as well as selling out their own headline tours.

They were playlisted by 6Music and Amazing Radio, and have been invited to perform live on BBC Radio by the likes of Dermot O’Leary, Steve Lamacq and Bob Harris.

Their previous album, Wildfire, won them huge praise everywhere from MOJO Magazine, The Guardian, The Independent and the Financial Times to Songlines, fRoots and Clash.

After a triumphant UK tour including sell-out dates at London’s Lexington and Scala, the band were invited to open for Bellowhead on their farewell tour.

Their live shows are displays of genuine warmth and dazzling musicianship, in evidence on the new record and older favourites that feature in the live set.

Jack Carty is supporting them on all of their UK dates, and his return to these shores follows the hugely successful release of his fourth album, Home State, last summer, which hit number one on the Australian airplay and sales charts.

Known and admired on the international folk touring circuit, Jack was spotted by Keston Cobblers Club, who personally invited him to join them on their 13-date run.

He launches his latest single, A Way With Me, during the tour, on Friday April 21.

The multi-instrumentalist wrote and played all the music on his latest album, aside from some some bass guitar and a few of the solos.

The past year has been a big one for Carty, including Australian tours with Darren Hanlon, Ingrid Michaelson and another good friend Josh Pyke, and two tours of the UK and Europe, taking in cities from Brighton to Berlin, and Spain’s famous Primavera Sound Festival.

Doors for the show on Thursday April 27 open at 7.30pm, and tickets are available from the venue's box office.
