POPULAR unplugged showcase Acoustic Meltdown makes the move to The Derby for a Christmas special on Wednesday December 21.

The long-running Barrow event has seen most of the region's solo performers perform on its bill since launching in 2012, and for the first show at the Dalton Road venue it welcomes back four of the best.

Collie Stewart has been a regular headliner at the Acoustic Meltdown - and at The Derby - over the years, and returns to the top slot for this festive edition.

The singer-songwriter is known for both his accomplished originals and impeccable covers, having established himself as one of Furness' top solo acts over the past eight years.

A worthy headliner with an always-engaging live show, you can expect to hear tracks from the likes of Ray LaMontagne, Creedence Clearwater Revival and Prince featuring in Wednesday's live set.

Young local star Zac Thompson plays a rare local show, with many of his recent appearances coming in and around Manchester. The ex-Jumbo Jamz member has been a part of the local scene for a number of years, playing live since his mid-teens. Again, he'll be playing through some of his favourite tracks and his own stripped-back numbers.

Jamie Bosanko was the headliner at the very first Meltdown, and has lead the line-up on many occasions since.

On Wednesday, he will be showcasing material from his full-length album, Echolocation, alongside older material and covers from artists such as REM, Neil Young, Tom Petty, James and Goo Goo Dolls.

Jordan Gaffney, of Freshman, performs a solo set, having appeared both with and without his bandmates in the past.

With his band having taken a recent break to work on new material, there is a prospect of some new additions to his set for Wednesday's gig.

Music gets under way around 8pm and entrance is free. There will also be alternative and indie sounds in between sets.
