MORE of the UK's biggest pop acts have been confirmed for a major event in Barrow this summer.

Boy band A1 have just announced their appearance at the Ultimate Pop Festival, with Atomic Kitten also now added to the line-up.

Westlife's Brian McFadden, S Club's Tina, Bradley and Jo, Blue's Antony Costa, and 90s star Kavana are all set to appear at the all-day event, taking place at Craven Park rugby stadium in Barrow this August.

British-Norwegian band A1 were one of the biggest acts of 2000, registering two number one hits, Take On Me and Same Old Brand New You.

They achieved success across the world, particularly in Southeast Asia and Japan, but back home they had a total of eight top 10 hits and won a Brit Award for British Breakthrough Act in 2001.

Following their appearance on ITV series The Big Reunion in 2014, they made a full comeback last October with a series of dates in Singapore and the Philippines.

Atomic Kitten also starred on The Big Reunion show, and have since continued as a trio, with Natasha Hamilton and Kerry Katona being joined by Liz McClarnon for UK dates and former Liberty X member Michelle Heaton for their international shows.

Their biggest years of success were 2001 and 2002, when they landed three number ones - Whole Again, Eternal Flame, and The Tide Is High.

The line-up is set to be finalised in the coming months.

The festival is being staged by the team behind the Ultimate 90s programme, Denis and Beth Horan, from Ultimate Events.

Denis says: "Beth and I are extremely excited and proud to be bringing this line-up to Furness for the inaugural Ultimate Pop Festival.

"It has been a dream to have pop stars from our youth perform in our town and on our stage.

"For me personally, it is an honour to bring a prestigious show to Furness that wouldn't be out of place at The 02 or The Manchester Arena, or even Heaton Park.

"If supported and successful this could set a footprint for even bigger and better shows in the future. The Furness Public deserve a decent festival and shouldn't have to travel two or three hours every time. We decided upon Craven Park as it is an ideal community facility that could be utilised for multi-use ventures. They have been very supportive from day one and we are very thankful.

"I sincerely hope all the Furness public support what we are trying to do."

Local acts confirmed to appear include Beth Horan, pop duo Mystical Experience, and leading Oasis tribute act Mad4It.

Also on-site will be fairground rides, food stalls, bouncy castles, face painters, and family entertainment.

Corporate boxes are available to book, with food and drink included, and "Gold Circle" passes are also available.

Businesses who are interested in sponsoring a stage should also contact the organisers.
