HIT boy band 5ive have announced they will be heading to South Cumbria next spring as part of a 90s club night.

The chart-toppers, who enjoyed a string of successful singles between 1997 and 2001, will appear at The Forum, in Barrow, on Saturday April 29, 2017.

The venue will be opened up to its full capacity of 700, with tickets expected to sell for this show, organised by The Ultimate 90s, which will feature more well-known names yet to be announced.

Currently featuring founder members Sean Conlon, Ritchie Neville, and Scott Robinson, the band are best known for their spell as chart stars, with the line-up also featuring Abz Love and Jason "J" Brown.

They were formed in 1997 by the same team that managed the Spice Girls, from an audition of more than 3,000 performers, and quickly released their debut single, Slam Dunk (Da Funk), which debuted at number 10 in the UK Singles Chart.

All the singles from their three albums landed in the top 10 - as well as the albums themselves - with a greatest hits compilation featuring tracks such as Keep on Movin', Everybody Get Up, When the Lights Go Out, Got the Feelin', and a cover of Queen's We Will Rock You.

The Ultimate 90s night organiser Denis Horan says: "We are delighted to have 5ive signed up to our rapidly expanding Ultimate 90s franchise.

"We had a meeting last week with the lead singer Ritchie in Leicestershire and he said they would be delighted to perform for us in Barrow and hopefully more venues on our UK tour.

"We have Baby D, Kavana, Rozalla, Livin' Joy and S Club signed up to appear at forthcoming shows and are in talks with two mega 90s stars and another group that had lots of number one hits around the world. "

Tickets for the show will be on sale from The Forum box office soon.
