Walney School pupil Rachel will miss old school

STUDENTS shared hugs and sent texts to share their GCSE success.
Walney School’s top achievers were 16 -year-olds Dana Henderson, Rachel Pearce, Joseph Spencely and Jordan Belcher, with a haul a great grades between them to make their families proud.
Jordan achieved seven A*, three As, four Bs and a C, while Rachel gained five A*s, an A, four Bs and three Cs.
Rachel said: “I’m really pleased with my results. I did work hard.
“I’ve enjoyed being at Walney School.
“I’ve been in all the school shows and I played Eponine in Les Miserables.
“I’ll miss it here.”
She will progress to Barrow Sixth Form College to follow her ambition to become an English teacher.
Headteacher Alan Dickenson said there were some tremendous high achievements.
Mr Dickenson said: “The most important thing is young people achieving the best of their ability, whatever their ability is.
“It has been a day of celebration and recognising the support the young people have had from their own families as well as their teachers.”
The school has not revealed its pass rates at this stage.
