Upmarket house builder to construct new estate on edge of Carlisle
Last updated at 13:01, Monday, 11 February 2013
The upmarket house-builder Charles Church is to build an estate of detached homes on the western fringe of Carlisle.
Charles Church is a sister company of Persimmon Homes, which is already building off Wigton Road.
Persimmon won planning consent in November for 103 homes on the corner of Dalston Road and Peter Lane.
It is this site that will be developed by Charles Church.
A spokeswoman confirmed that work is due to start in 2014.
Most of Charles Church’s developments are in southern England.
It is expanding north, however, and has sites in Manchester and Edinburgh.
The plans for Dalston Road/Peter Lane show a mix of three, four and five-bedroom detached houses, all with parking and gardens. The main access is from Dalston Road.
Persimmon, meanwhile, has unveiled two show houses at its Brackenleigh development off Wigton Road.
The company is building 253 detached and semi-detached homes in three stages over 10 years.
Work on the first phase began last summer.
Fifteen have been sold so far and the latest four buyers received their keys last week.
Prices start at £87,496 and go up to £204,995 for the Roseberry, a four-bedroomed property with integral garage, open-plan kitchen/diner, utility room and master bedroom with en-suite facilities.
Fifty-six homes will be classed as ‘affordable’ – 37 for sale to locals at 30 per cent below market value and 19 available for rent at discounted rates.
The newly fitted out show homes are a Roseberry and a Hatfield.
The latter is a three-bedroomed detached property, which is available from £154,396 and features a detached garage an en-suite master bedroom.
Persimmon is offering incentives to would-be buyers including the Government’s FirstBuy scheme and its own part-exchange scheme. New owners get a welcome pack of essentials supplied by Sainsbury’s while Dobbies Garden World has provided garden furniture for the show homes.
