A DERBY clash at Dawes Meadow is the highlight of tomorrow’s action as Windermere welcome Millom in the Cumbria League.

The hosts are almost at full strength, while Millom are able to field a strong side despite being without one or two key players. It promises to be a close-fought encounter.

Elsewhere, Hawcoat Park are on their travels again as they head north to face Aspatria in the North Lancs/ Cumbria League and Furness are at Cockermouth in the Cumbria League.

WINDERMERE v MILLOM

(Dawes Meadow, 3pm)

WINDERMERE at home are a hard proposition and, with them finally being able to field a near-full-strength side, it is set to be a great game at Dawes Meadows.

Jamie Hardman captains the side and makes up the front row with Dan Harrison and Leigh Todd.

The huge second-row partnership of Johnny Benson and Tadgh Butler will be a real handful and will look to dominate the set-pieces, while the back-row trio of Matt Powell, John Sheasby and Joe Hallam can control the game if given half a chance – something Millom will need to be wary of.

Out wide, Moses Dawson will cross the whitewash if given the chance, with Tom Atkinson always able to produce the goods.

It will be up to Dan Neild and Rory Hodgson to get the back line up and running, with Josh Holmes and Tony Sheasby looking to take all opportunities in front of them.

Millom also go strong, but skipper Ian Cummings is missing and his place is taken by Keiron Rogan, who is more than capable of filling the gap.

The backs look threatening again, with Robbie Pattinson and Chris Park looking to dictate play as the half-backs.

The centre combination of Trevor Dixon and captain Ryan Carter is an intimidating presence, with nothing but speed outside them from Jordan Moyes, Craig Mounsey and John Falconer, who will finish any chances which are created.

Keiron Coulson will team up with fellow young gun Joe Thomlinson in a strong second row as Millom aim to spoil the party for the home side in their first away match of the season.

ASPATRIA v HAWCOAT PARK

HAWCOAT hit the road again as they travel to the north of the county to face Aspatria with a few key personnel missing.

It will be a tough day for the Maroons with Jason Priss missing, but John Donnan looks to fill the gap, with Adam Grainger joining him in the front row.

Ash Mowatt keeps his second-row shirt and could be joined by either Callum Ramsey or skipper on the day Will Mallinson.

Johnny Burrows and Mike Lightfoot make up the rest of the pack. Jack Shannon takes control at scrum-half and links up with former Furness player George Smith at fly-half.

The finishing prowess of Will Coles and Glenn Kaighan will be on show for everyone to see and, with Chris Burns at centre, there is a good feel about the travelling team.

ORRELL ST JAMES v HAWCOAT PARK A

HAWCOAT seconds are also away to and, once again, travel with a lot of changes.

Rory Sayle will be leading by example, with stalwart Ryan Brown on hand to drive the ball forward.

Dave Whynne will lead the backs, with Connor Doherty making his debut. Joe Rea is playing some great rugby as well as he continues to develop his game.

Another new boy, Andy Thompson, has a run out, with last week’s debutant Sam Shephard coming into the pack.

Joe Ward is also on hand with his great game-play, which will be invaluable in a tough game on the road.

COCKERMOUTH v FURNESS

FURNESS will be looking for a change in fortunes as the bottom-placed club travel to the Cumbria League’s second-placed team.

Although clubman Rhys Studt is away and the injured Corne Els missing, the club do see Joe Mallinson back after a recent trip abroad, which provides a huge lift for the Barrow side.

Other returning players are influential forwards Paul Dean and Aaron Pike, who will make a big difference to the team.

The pack is bolstered further by Mark Hall and Alex Mason, which sees a strong line-up take to the field, especially when Dillon Tapatu is added into the mix.

Jordan Ashton will look for good clean ball to get the backs up and running, with Reece Humphries more than capable of breaking the line at will.

Ben Hughes and Russ Birch certainly know how to finish and will need to be on top form to get their team-mates the points they need.
