BOTTOM plays top in the Cumbria League tomorrow, as Millom look to upset the applecart and defeat leaders Upper Eden.

Theirs is the only first-team match involving South Cumbrian sides, as Furness have seen their cup match with Windermere scrubbed and Hawcoat Park have the weekend off.

MILLOM v UPPER EDEN

(Wilson Park, 3pm)

MILLOM are on home turf as they take on unbeaten Cumbria League leaders Upper Eden.

Looking for there first win of the season, Millom – though they have played only twice thus far – Millom put out a strong side in their pursuit of much-needed points.

In the front row, Kieron Rogan, Dean Doyle and Steve Watson take the mantle, amply pushed on by second-rower Ian Cummings and big Callum Lamont.

Skipper Trevor Dixon leads the squad from the back row, and is joined by Craig Mounsey and Joe Laydon in as they look to pick up the loose ball.

Robbie Pattinson continues at scrum half and links up with Chris Park at fly-half in an exciting partnership.

The backs see Ryan Carter teaming up with Podge Rodgers, looking to feed wide men Quint and Kyle Barnes.

HAWCOAT PARK A v LEYLAND WARRIORS

(Hawcoat Park, 3pm)

WITH the first team on a blank weekend, Hawcoat seconds carry the club's hopes tomorrow.

They are in cup action against last week’s opponents Leyland Warriors.

The league match-up was a close affair, with the travelling Maroons defeated 19-5 by two chip-and-runs over the defence, despite having at least 75 per cent of possession.

The Park squad is almost unchanged, apart from a couple of players who are not available.

They hope to get Paul Woodburn out of work for a second week running and will see him team up with the returning Mike Gibson and Ryan Brown, though Joe Rea may have something to say about that should he be available.

With skipper Martin Kennedy missing, the second-row duties fall on the shoulder of any of a number of players, such as Mark Hall, Luke Shaw and back-row forwards Matt Robson and Alfie White.

Richard Dalton and Charlie Butterworth will make up a strong-looking pack, clearing good ball for Adam Williamson to release a strong back line.

Euan James, at fly-half, will be looking to improve on last week, while the returning centre Connor McDermott teams up with the experience of Dave Wynne.

Will Howard looked steady at full-back last week, and will look to retain his shirt along with Josh Archer, Lewis Sayle, Jay Crowe and Joe Dalton all looking for a start.

Young colts Harry Higgins and Lewis Burrows are both now of age and they could also see some action.

FURNESS v WINDERMERE

FURNESS were looking forward to building momentum after a solid Cumbria League performance against Whitehaven last week.

But Windermere have had to postpone the Cumbria League Cup fixture, as they are struggling to raise a side due to work commitments and holidays.

The 43-32 scoreline between Furness and Whitehaven last weekend reflected a tough, physical contest in which both teams played a part. The Blues edged it with a more consistent display.

Sam Dutton, with a personal tally of 20 points, had a fine game, linking well with his backs.

Furness's open style of play was in stark contrast to Whitehaven’s direct approach, but the homedefence, although stretched at times, held firm under the pressure.

Skipper Corne Els was pleased with the result, particularly the input of the back row consisting of Joe and Will Mallinson and Rhys Studt.

The Blues will now have to wait a week before they travel to Egremont to continue their league campaign.
