FURNESS take on the only side to have beaten them this season tomorrow, as they travel to Upper Eden.

The Cumbria League leaders make the trip north in the Cumbria League Cup, hoping to avoid a repeat of their 27-12 reversal on the opening day of the season.

Hawcoat Park seek a much-needed win at home to Aspatria, while their A-team travel to Fylde.

UPPER EDEN v FURNESS

IT is a top-of-the-table cup clash tomorrow as Furness travel to Upper Eden for what could be an evenly matched game.

The Blues top the Cumbria League on points difference from both Workington and tomorrow's hosts, who bested them on the opening day.

Furness see the return of the influential Adam Jackson at fly-half, adding a new dimension to the play as he partners the in-form Sam Dutton at half-back. The pairing could turn out to be a game-changer.

Adam Nicholson and versatile club stalwart Rhys Studt make up a formidable centre partnership, with Ryan Cunningham one of the men out wide looking to get on the end of some good ball.

In the pack, Paul Dean moves back to his more familiar propping duties as James Tyson returns to the engine room second row.

The back row of the Mallinson brothers, Joe and Will, with Blues skipper Corne Els is somewhat exciting and will prove a handful for the hosts.

The cup match should be a good indicator of current form in both camps as the teams look to both advance and to put down a marker for the league.

HAWCOAT PARK v ASPATRIA

(Hawcoat Park, 3pm)

HAWCOAT find themselves bottom of the North Lancashire/Cumbria League, though not for the want of trying.

They have been unable to select the same team week in, week out, and this week is no different.

They welcome some more new faces to the side to face Aspatria, and it is hoped club captain Brad Morrow will return from working abroad in time to play. If not, vice-captain Andy Kent will take the reins.

He joins Adam Grainger and John Donnan in the front row, with A-teamers on standby to fill the gap left if Morrow or Donnan are unavailable.

A dominant second-row pairing of Callum Ramsey and Ashley Mowatt, with Mike Lightfoot set to join Joe Rea and Alfie White in the back row.

Johnny Burrows looks to continue at scrum half, with partner-in-crime James Howden at stand-off looking for good clean ball to release Lewis Sayle and Chris Burns in the backs.

Wide men Rodney Odondi and Will Coles will want to see more ball to try to affect the result, along with Blain Marwood, whose man-of-the-match performances have not gone unnoticed.

Hawcoat need to take their displays in training into match days if they are to move off the foot of the table.

FYLDE v HAWCOAT PARK A

THE Maroon and White A-team travel to take on Fylde fourths in North West Intermediate Division Four.

Once again, they make the trip with a large squad, despite some stepping up to the first XV.

Last week’s hard fought win at home to Leigh saw them keep second place in the league, with Orrell hot on their heels.

Tomorrow sees the return of Paul Woodburn and Rory Sayle, while Harry Higgin made his debut last week and will be looking to get more game time.

Euan James will be in control at stand-off, with Joe Dalton showing he is also capable of playing the role. Both Adam Williamson and Scott Garnett are the men expected to link up.

Dave Wynne returns from injury in the back line, with Reece Carlisle, Jay Crowe and Will Howard on hand to take them forward with ball in hand.

A massive second row of Luke Shaw and Jackson Glynn will be a real force to be reckoned with, with Josh Vial taking up one of the loose forward roles.

Mark Hall will be hopeful of moving to a more recognised position away from the front three, with Col Wright and Ethan Vial hopeful of shrugging off hamstring injuries.
