A THIN rugby union fixture list sees only Ambleside and Hawcoat Park in action tomorrow.

With the Cumbria League having a blank weekend, the focus switches to the North Lancs/Cumbria League and Cumbria League Two.

HAWCOAT PARK v WORKINGTON

(Hawcoat Park, 2.15pm)

AFTER defeat at leaders Carlisle last week, Hawcoat first do not want to give up any more points this side of Christmas as they look to consolidate a mid-table spot in the North Lancs/Cumbria League.

A lack of props could see Chris Thompson pull on a shirt, joining Adam Grainger and Andy Kent in the front three.

Dynamic duo Ashley Mowat and captain Dan White are more than a handful, along with the back row of Mike Lightfoot, Callum Ramsey and Will Mallinson.

Johnny Burrows keeps his scrum half jersey alongside a rejuvenated George Smith at fly-half.

Chris Burns is joined by Jack Sutherland in the centres in what looks a potent pairing, with Elliot McDermott at full-back.

The wide men do not change, with Glenn Kaighan and Ryan Clegg keeping their shirts.

OXTON PARKONIANS v AMBLESIDE

AMBLESIDE head to the Wirral in Junior Vase action to take on Oxton Parkonians.

The second round-robin fixture in the group stage follows a 24-20 home defeat by Moseley Hill last month – a game which only went ahead after Ambleside players picked up their opponents from Kendal after their cars broke down en-route to Galava Park.

Ambleside saw their game frozen off last week and have no injuries to worry about.

The robust front three of Pip Houghton, Gregg Stevenson and Mike Gibson will look to dominate the set-piece, backed up by skipper Paul Longster and Jacob Taylor.

With Alfie White at number eight, the visitors always have options, and with Greg Machino and Andrew Clayton joining him in the back row, they have a strong trio.

Keenan Longster will link up with regular partner Pete Holgate, who on their day can tear teams apart with their expansive rugby.

Centre-field sees Matt Middlemiss and Steve Matthews look after proceedings in defence and attack, with Lewis Kelly having their backs.

Wide men Tim Horsfall and Rory Seeking can finish at will given half-a-chance as a strong team takes to the road.

ROSSENDALE v HAWCOAT PARK A

PARK A travel to Rossendale in pursuit of promotion after a superb 60-12 defeat of Vale of Lune last time out.

The superb strong running of Harrison O'Brien was on point last week and he will be at the front of everything again tomorrow.

Dave Wynne will lead front the front, with Rory Sayle and Jay Crowe never far from the action.

The return of Scott Garnett at scrum half gives them a strong look, especially with Lewis Sayle on hand to get the side on the front foot.

Ryan Brown will go forward from the front row, taking Euan James under his wing.
