HAWCOAT Park hope tomorrow is the day they can kick-start their North Lancs/Cumbria League season as they host Oldham.

Elsewhere, Cumbria League pacesetters Furness look to continue their winning form when they head to Cockermouth, while Millom go to fellow strugglers Egremont.

Hawcoat Park v Oldham

(Hawcoat Park, 2.15pm)

AFTER a spirited display in their 31-18 defeat at De La Salle, Hawcoat are back on home turf as they look to take the scalp of Oldham, which will be no mean feat.

There are not many personnel changes as Paul Woodburn keeps his place in the starting line-up after a great game last week, and he is joined by captain Brad Morrow and Andy Kent up front.

Ash Mowat steps up into the second row to be joined by former front row man John Donnan, who will be looking to stabilise the pack in the set piece.

Callum Ramsey and Alfie White continue in the back row alongside scrum-half Johnny Burrows, who will be looking to his forwards to win good clean ball.

James Howden is the man outside him, with George Smith and Lewis Sayle likely to partner up in the centres.

Wide men Will Coles and Rodney Odandi will need plenty of ball to give the home side a chance of taking the points along with Blain Marwood, whose silky running can open up sides at will.

Cockermouth v Furness

FURNESS will have to make changes from the side who swept aside Windermere 31-8 last week due to injury and unavailability.

The return of Chris Dalton up front is a boost, and he will partner Dillan Taputu and Ben Hughes up front in a strong-looking front row.

Alex Mason returns to the second row after an injury lay-off and Corne Els moves to number eight, with Rhys Studt continuing at open-side wing forward looking to snaffle ball at the breakdown.

Sam Dutton’s game goes from strength to strength as he continues at scrum-half, with the evergreen Steve Neale at fly-half. Alex Brown drops in to full-back following his succesful return from injury last week.

Egremont v Millom

IT’S a bottom-of-the-table clash as Millom hit the road north to take on Cumbrian rivals Egremont in the Cumbria League.

Kieran Rogan, Steve Watson and Ian Cummings could be making up the front three with Callum Lamont also more than capable of holding his own up front. This could see Cummings move to the engine room and join big Keiran Coulson in what would be a very strong second row.

Skipper Trevor Dixon will no doubt control the back row alongside Jordan Laydon and Matty Jordan.

Robbie Pattinson looks likely to keep the scrum half shirt to run alongside partner-in-crime Chris Park at stand-off.

Windermere v Upper Eden

(Dawes Meadow, 2.15pm)

THE Ambers are back at Dawes Meadow where they take on Cumbria League rivals Upper Eden.

Skipper Jamie Hardman will be joined by Dan Harrison and Luke Todd in a strong front three.

A big second row takes to the pitch in the shape of Josh Dawson and Tadhg Butler, who are a reel handful on their day.

Johnny Benson continues at number eight, with Leon Surfontain and Conor Maher his back row partners.

They will need to rule the breakdown if they are to control this game. Dan Neild returns at scrum-half and links up with Bertie Hodgson at stand-off as they look for the opportunity to open up Eden’s defence.

Wide men Tom Atkinson and Moses Dawson can cause chaos if given the chance, so they will be looking to the men inside them Neil Piggot and Dave Oakley to get them away.

The return of Jim Crawford is a big boost for the club.

Thornton Cleveleys v Hawcoat Park A

FOLLOWING the disappointment of last week’s game against Sedgley Park being cancelled, Hawcoat A team travel south to face North West Intermediate Division Four promotion rivals Thornton.

Despite missing a few key players, the Maroon and Whites still go strong as Martin Kennedy looks to lead his team to victory.

The stand-off role could see young Joe Dalton take the reins, with Dave Wynne and Ethan Vial looking to support the youngster at all times.

James Dallimore continues in the backs, which will see him playing alongside Jay Crowe, Dan Hayes, Col Wright and Adam Armstrong.

The forwards will look to Ryan Brown, Mike Gibson and Mark Hall to give them a platform to work from, with Luke Shaw likely to join Kennedy in the second row.

The influence of Rory Sayle could be key as he joins a number of forwards all looking for a start with the forwards’ top try-scorer Peter Jennens never far from play.
