Hawcoat v De La Salle

HAWCOAT Park are looking to get their season up and running after a depleted team lost their North Lancs/Cumbria League opener 37-10 at Bolton.

Tomorrow they welcome the might of De La Salle from Manchester to Hawcoat Park and the returns of Ash Mowat and Mike Lightfoot will be a massive lift for the squad.

Ryan Milner will possibly be linking up with Mowat in the second row with Lightfoot joining vice-captain Will Mallinson and Jonny Burrows in the back row.

James Howden also returns in the stand-off role for the missing Scott Kaighan. Howden links up with Antony Munday at scrum half with club captain Dan White and young Grady Slater in the centres. An impressive first team debut by Will Coles sees him keep his place on the wing with Robert Shepherd possibly on the other flank. With Lewis Sayle at full-back and Jack Shannon on the bench the team looks good enough to take the points.

Hawcoat seconds are also at home in their first game in the Raging Bulls North West League as they face Blackburn thirds.

A mixture of old and new take to the pitch including stalwarts Adam Williamson and Martin Heywood. Dave Whynne will be holding court centre-field with Jay Crowe forming a great partnership.

Dan Armitstead and Austin Meadows make their open-age debuts coming from last year's successful Colts side, with Joe Rea also on hand with his strong-running game. Euan James will be pulling the strings from stand-off with Joe Ward, Liam Glew and Jordan Glew always around to back things up.

Millom v Keswick

MILLOM start their league campaign with a home game against Keswick.

Millom seem to be going from strength to strength and will be looking to hit the road running against a tough Keswick side. Callum Lamont, Dean Doyle and Kevin Rogan will be leading from the front backed up in the second row by Keiron Coulson and Joe Thomlinson.

A dynamic back row of Adam Redhead, Joe Laydon and Matty Jordan will be looking to snaffle any loose ball at the breakdown. Chris Park will be linking up from scrum half with Jordan Moyes as they look to get the back-line away, with wingmen Steve Forster and Jarty Robinson more than capable of finishing.

The centre berth will be led by Trevor Dixon and Steve Clarke, and with John Falconer at full-back coming into the line there is some real strength in depth. With skipper Ian Cummings, stalwart Steve Watson and James and Craig Wilson also missing, they will be hoping to get the right result.

There will be live band on after the game at Wilson Park to celebrate the start of the new season so please feel free to pop along and support the team.

Windermere v Cockermouth

DAWES Meadow sees a return to Cumbria League fixtures as Windermere face Cockermouth in their opener.

Windermere have had a massive recruitment drive as they look to build for the future. One new face sees Simeon Lee take his first steps as scrum half, linking up with regular fly-half Bertie Hodgeson. His brother Rory is in the centre but one missing face will be skipper James Crawford who unfortunately suffered a broken leg last week and could miss the rest of the season.

Club man Dan Harrison has returned from holiday so the bronzed Adonis will be teaming up with Luke Todd and Shaun Stafford.

Joe Turner will possibly be moving to the back row to team up with Joe Hallam. The engine room second row will see Josh Dawson and Tagdh New team up for the first time to complete the pack.
