HAWCOAT Park A team have a massive game at Oldershaw seconds in the last-16 of the National Cup tomorrow.

Furness look to continue their good run of form as they entertain Cockermouth in the Cumbria League Cup, while Millom A host Aspatria and Ambleside are at home to Cockermouth A.

Oldershaw A v Hawcoat Park A

WITH Hawcoat’s first team having no game, Park seconds grab a piece of the limelight as they head to Wallasey to fight for a place in the National Cup quarter-finals.

It is the biggest game for the club’s second string in a number of years, and although they have a few players missing, they still travel with a strong squad.

The big boys up front, Paul Woodburn and Ryan Brown, are a force to be reckoned with and could be joined by the superb Joe Rea, who has shown some great form in the front three as of late.

Charlie Butterworth, Rory Sayle, Mark Woodburn and Mark Hall will be competing for a starting shirt in the engine room, with one or two dropping to the back row.

Matt Robson and Sam Hilton are on hand to take up any slack, with Scott Garnett and Adam Williamson never far from the action.

The stand-off role will see Euan James returning to the fold, with Jay Crowe and Dave Wynne outside him in the centres.

Returning to the team after a long break in his homeland of Kenya, is Rodney Odondi, who has been missed immensely.

Dan Hayes will be looking to keep his wing berth, with Lewis Sayle back in the team at full-back.

Furness v Cockermouth

(Strawberry Grounds, 2.15pm)

THE Blues had a great win on the road last week, putting Carlisle seconds to the sword, so they will more than fancy their chances of winning as they take on Cockermouth firsts in the Cumbria League Cup.

Skipper Rhys Studt will lead from the back row and will be joined by the fit-again Joe Mallinson, who will be a massive addition to the pack.

Tom Brannon’s broken finger keeps him out, but Corne Els retains his shirt in a very strong back three.

Player/coach Dillan Taputu will have Martin Ward for company in the second row as they look to push on the front three of the evergreen Paul Dean, Ben Hughes and Leon Sweet, who can hold their own with the best of them.

Scrum half Jordan Ashton is progressing his game so will keep his place alongside the outstanding Adam Jackson, who has been a revelation since his return to the club.

Steve Perry will control the back line and the game with his kicking, which is more than good enough to keep the visitors on the back foot, with pacy partner Tez Nueto alongside him. Alex Brown at full-back will look to get in among it all early doors and, with his widemen Rhys Humphries and Ryan Cunningham on the park, they can cause a lot of problems for Cockermouth.

Millom A v Aspatria A

(Wilson Park, 2.15pm)

WITH a good mixture of youth and experience, Millom A will look to hit the road running in their pursuit of the points in Cumbria League Two.

Keiron Coulson takes control of the scrum half role, linking up with regular stand-off Chris Park.

David Thompson and Joe Fisher take up their places out wide, with Mikey Jordan and pack ace Callum Loughran in the centre berths.

Wing forward Joe Laydon looks to add the full-back role to his CV, which is something he is more than capable of.

The pack sees Steve Watson leading from the front, with Dean Doyle and Kev Rogan alongside him in the front three and a strong engine room with Keiron Rogan and Si Robertson looking to control play in the tight.

The loose will have Trevor Dixon, Joe Thomlinson and regular full-back Ryan Carter looking after it.

Ambleside v Cockermouth A

(Galava Park, 2.15pm)

GALAVA Park sees Ambleside back in action against a Cockermouth side many of the Ambers played against last week when they made up the numbers to help Workington Zebras out as they were short of players.

Ambleside will look to go unchanged, so the front row is likely to see Mike Blakeston, Mike Gibson and Gregg Stevenson at its helm.

Captain fantastic Paul Longster will have the size and ability of Jacob Taylor alongside him to help bolster the men in front and give the back row of Pip Houghton, Gregg Machino and Cyrill Lathes the platform they need to both defend and attack.

Keenan Longster’s progression at scrum half has been great as of late and he will look to his forwards to give him good clean ball to help get fly-half Peter Holgate up and at them.

Centre-field will be in the hands of Matthew Middlemiss and Steven Matthews and they have the pace of Tim Horsefall and Rory Townsend out wide.

Full-back Lewis Kelly will be looking for his wingmen and the back line in front of him to back him up when he goes on the attack and control things when in defence.
