FURNESS go in tomorrow's home derby against Millom licking their wounds after a frustrating day at Upper Eden.

It was one of those days where nothing seemed to click for the Blues, with the hosts making the most of their chances and taking the victory 27-12.

Furness welcome back scrum half Sam Dutton for the Cumbria League clash against Millom. He will add a new dimension to the back-line with his get-up-and-go attitude.

Improving second row Ryan Potgeiter is unavailable, but James Tyson will slot in to partner Dan Scott in the second row.

Furness are hoping the injured Tom Brannon will pass a fitness test for his first run-out after a shoulder injury to partner Will Mallinson and Corne Els in the back row.

Alex Brown drops to full-back and aims to link up with powerful runner Ryan Cunningham on the right wing.

Young Rhys Humphreys returns having shown maturity in the centres, and his fearless defence was clearly missed last week.

Once again work commitments, injury and unavailability have impacted on the squad, but Furness are looking forward to welcoming Millom to the Strawberry Grounds for their first home league game of the season.

Millom travel for what is their first league game with high hopes of causing the Barrow side major problems, and will be looking to take all five points. They have named a strong side and are adopting a new-look style of play.

Coach Adam Redhead said: "The lads have trained hard and I've been impressed with the performances in pre-season.

“We are a physical side and have the ability to cause teams problems up the middle and out wide. I'm looking for a big performance to put down a marker for the rest of the season.”

An experienced front row with Dean Doyle at hooker and acting captain, plus Steven Watson and Callum Lamont, take to the field in a strong-looking front three.

The second row sees Joe Tomlinson and Mr Dependable Ian Cummings taking control and there is no doubt they will be looking to carry the ball hard and tackle everything that moves.

They are supported by a mobile back three, in the shape of Joe Laydon, Matthew Jordan and player-coach Adam Redhead, who will be hard to deal with.

Young Robbie Patterson and Chris Park make up the half-back pairing, with Ryan Carter and Scott Fisher starting a new powerful and fast partnership in the centres. Kylie Barnes and Sy Robinson are on the wings and Jordan Moyes is at full-back.

HAWCOAT PARK v KESWICK

AFTER defeat on the road at Fleetwood last week, Hawcoat are looking for their second victory at home as they take on newly-promoted Keswick.

Skipper Brad Morrow moves from the back row to hooker and is joined by John Donnan and Andy Kent.

Callum Ramsey looks to continue his second row partnership with Ash Mowat as they both go in pursuit of set-piece ball.

The return of Mike Lightfoot will be a big bonus and he will be part of a back row also consisting of Alfie White and Jason Priss.

Johnny Burrows and James Howden are the half-backs in charge of getting the back line up and running, and with Chris Burns and Will Coles, they have the firepower to cause problems.

Lewis Sayle is a big inclusion in the side, with fingers crossed for Blain Marwood's return at full-back.

With final selection not confirmed, changes could be afoot with Dan White and the returning Eric Hill both also available for selection.

CLITHEROE V HAWCOAT PARK A

HAWCOAT Park seconds are away in a league-and-cup double header at Clitheroe.

With a massive squad to choose from, selection is going to be a real headache. One thing is for sure they need to go strong so Paul Woodburn, Ryan Brown and Mike Gibson could make up the front three with Joe Rea also available.

The second row will no doubt have skipper Martin Kennedy at its helm but any one of Rory Sayle, Ted Jackson, Mark Hall, Luke Shaw, Charlie Butterworth and Ethan Vial are also looking for a shirt.

The back row has Matt Robson, Connor Vetes-Young, Peter Steele, Peter Jennens and Harrison O'Brien all looking for a start.

The back line is a bit more stable and has old head Adam Williamson there to steady the ship and get good ball out to stand-off Euan James. Dave Wynne is likely to be in the centres with Matt Bettney and Matt Burrows at full-back.

The wings will be looked after by last week's two-try debutante Joe Dalton with Dan Hayes and Connor Doherty also there to give a hand.

WINDERMERE v EGREMONT

THE Ambers are at home against Egremont in confident mood following a superb away win last time out at Whitehaven.

Skipper Jamie Hardman will be looking for more of the same this week, and with newcomers Steven Dixon and Phil Murphy they have the tools to do so.

Stalwart Dan Harrison joins Hardman and Dixon in the front three, with Murphy having fellow second rower Johnny Benson by his side.

The back row will be key, and as such Leon Surfontain, Josh Dawson and Paul Mahler take up the mantle in securing good ball for scrum half David Wiggins to distribute.

David Oakley and Andy Duncan take up centre-field position and will be looking for fly-half Bertie Hodgson to get the ball out quick.

Wingers Moses Dawson and Tom Atkinson are more than capable of putting points on the board with Kane McMahon at full-back on hand to pick up the pieces in both defence and attack.

The bench sees Luke Todd, Liam McKinnon and Conor Maher more than able to take up position on the pitch if required.
