TABLE-toppers Fleetwood provide the latest test for Hawcoat Park when they return to action in the North Lancs/Cumbria League tomorrow.

Hawcoat are seeking to bounce back from the heavy loss in the all-Cumbrian clash with Aspatria last Saturday, but there are set to be welcome returns for a number of players which should bring them back up to full strength.

There are no games for Millom or Windermere in the Cumbria League this weekend, but Furness are seeking their first points of the season when they take on Egremont at home, and Ambleside travel to Netherhall for a friendly.

FURNESS v EGREMONT

(The Strawberry Grounds, 3pm)

Furness are on home turf tomorrow as they look to get there first points of the season in Cumbria League One.

A defeat on the road last weekend sees the Blues more determined than ever to win and they see some of the rugby league fraternity return to the ranks now their season is now over.

Sam Attard is the first returnee and what a name to have back on the team sheet. Also hoping to return is Steve Perry, who will look to control the game from fly-half.

Outside Perry will be the Humphries brothers in Reece and Iestyn, with the latter back from university for the cause. Cameron Mclure returns to the hooker role and is joined by James Tyson in the front row, who can both hold there own with the best of them.

Mark Ashton comes in at scrum-half, putting pressure on young Jordan Ashton and linking up with a Perry. Alex Mason will need to have his usual strong game with fellow pack man Mark Hall always on hand to bring stability to the robust eight.

Some noticeable absentees in Andy Brannon, Paul Dean and Dillon Tapatu sees the side slightly weakened, but with Joe Mallinson and Rhys Studt back together in the back row they still have a strong enough side to take the points.

HAWCOAT PARK v FLEETWOOD

(Hawcoat Sports Club, 3pm)

Hawcoat Park are on home turf this week as the play Cumbria League leaders Fleetwood. This will be a real test for the home side, especially after the heavy away defeat at the hands of Aspatria last time out.

Late fitness tests for Jason Priss and George Smith will hopefully see a full-strength side take to the field, but injury to Adam Grainger sees Andy Kent take over the hooker role, with Ryan Milner the other front rower.

Ash Mowat and Dan White make a formidable second row, with Will Mallinson, Johnny Burrows and Mike Lightfoot making up a great pack.

The back line sees Sam Hilton link up with James Howden at half-back, while Mr Dependable, Chris Burns, in the centres with returning rugby league player Jack Sutherland makes for a superb partnership.

Out wide are Will Coles and Elliot McDermott, who can finish moves at will, and with Tim Clark, Blain Marwood and John Donnan on the bench the side has every chance of taking the points.

It will be a busy day at Hawcoat as the seconds are at home as well. With shifts, holidays and injuries the Maroons are pulling out all the stops to get a team out as the play Leigh in a rearranged fixture.

Joe Rea will no doubt be in the middle of everything, with fellow forward Rory Sayle more than capable of taking on the opposition. Rodni Odandi and Dan Armitstead will be the finishers on the day, with Dan Hayes and Joe Ward always in the action.

Dave Whynne will be leading the backs which will see the return of Jake Vial and Robert Shephard. Two more returnees will be in the pack with Luke Shaw and Jordan Garnett who will be a massive inclusion in the team.

Pete Jennens will look to control the pack and is hoping for a good, solid foundation in front of him. With Spencer Hoyland and Jake Spedding throwing their hat into the ring, this could be a great game of rugby to watch.

Netherhall v Ambleside

After a 20-7 home defeat against Creighton last week, Ambleside play Netherhall in a friendly and look to go unchanged.

The back row of Gregg Machino, Pip Houghton and Rory Seeking will need to be first to the breakdown to secure clean ball for scrum half Keenan Longster to get good ball away to the backs and stand off Matt Burrows who will take on the defence given half a chance.

Jacob Taylor is finding his feet in the pack and with skipper Paul Longster and Andrew Clayton on his shoulder, he will not go far wrong.

Paul Aires and Mike Gibson will take on the opposing pack, and will drive on all of the time to get the ball to wing men Rory Townsend and Tim Horsfall, who - given half an opportunity - will get over the whitewash. It is going to be a great game for the South Lakes side.
