DERBY day comes to the Strawberry Grounds tomorrow as Cumbria League leaders Furness host the always-dangerous Windermere.

There are tough matches for Hawcoat Park and Millom too on a big weekend of action.

FURNESS v WINDERMERE

(Strawberry Grounds, 2.15pm)

FURNESS are looking to return to winning ways following a bruising encounter against Upper Eden in the Cumbria League Cup.

The Blues lost out 13-9 on the road, but welcome back a couple of big players tomorrow in Dillan Taputu and lock Ryan Potgeiter, who will boost the pack.

An injury to Will Mallinson sees Rhys Studt return to his more familiar back-row position alongside captain Corne Els and Joe Mallinson.

Sam Dutton and Adam Jackson were an effective pairing last week at half-back and will prove a challenge to Windermere’s defence with their passing and kicking game.

Lee Starkey returns at full-back, with the exciting pairing of brothers Rhys and Iestyn Humphreys taking control of the centre field as they continue to mature.

Windermere are looking to build on their win over Silloth last time out, and look to go unchanged.

The back row will be a key battleground, and Mere will be looking for Joe Hallam, Josh Dawson and Johnny Benson to be on top of their game.

Skipper Jamie Hardman will put the building blocks in place up front, with Dan Harrison and Leigh Todd by his side.

Phil Murphy and former Blue Tagdh Butler have their work cut out in the set-piece, but can more than compete.

Andy Duncan at full-back will be key in defence, as well as attack, and will look to wide men Moses Dawson and Tom Atkinson to back him up in pursuit of points.

The first game at the Strawberry Grounds for a month promises to be well supported, with former players the Furness Old Farts as match-day sponsors.

DE LA SALLE v HAWCOAT PARK

BOTTOM-OF-THE-TABLE Hawcoat find life in North Lancs/Cumbria does not get any easier as they head to Manchester to face everyone’s pantomime villains, De La Salle.

The Marroon and Whites do welcome back skipper Brad Morrow to take up the role of hooker, joined by Paul Woodburn and Andy Kent up front.

Ryan Milner will see Callum Ramsey alongside him in the engine-room, with Ash Mowat down to play centre in a change of his usual position.

Mike Lightfoot links up with Alfie White, man-of-the-match last week in defeat against Aspatria , who has been playing some great rugby of late.

Lewis Sayle will get a shout to play scrum half and link-up with James Howden, with the return of George Smith a big bonus.

Chris Burns will hold court in the centres, looking to exploit all opportunity with fellow back Blain Marwood.

HAWCOAT PARK A v SEDGLEY PARK

(Hawcoat Park, 2.15pm)

PARK A had a hard pill to swallow in defeat at Fylde last week, after taking the lead.

Victory would have seen them go top of North West Intermediate Division Four.

They still sit second, and will keep pushing in the hope of gaining promotion at the end of the season.

Hawcoat welcome back Connor McDermott, Matt Robson, Martin Kennedy, Matt Burrows, Ethan Vial and the influential Harrison O'Brien to face Sedgeley Park tomorrow.

Euan James is also back in the fold after missing last week’s game, and will be looking to reclaim the number 10 shirt from young Joe Dalton.

The improvement of Mike Gibson’s all-round play has come on leaps means he will be pushing for a first-team shirt soon.

Dave Wynne will be looking for more from his backs, with new boy James Dallimore proving a real find last week.

Col Wright upped his game and will probably start at full-back, with Charlie Butterworth also on hand in the forwards.

MILLOM v WHITEHAVEN

(Wilson Park, 2.15pm)

THE Blue and Whites are not far from turning the corner as they welcome Whitehaven in the Cumbria League tomorrow.

But they welcome a team who appear to have already done so with the return of their rugby league players.

The home squad has strength written all over it in what could be a real humdinger of a match.

Kieran Rogan, Dean Doyle and Steve Watson are the likely front three, with Ian Cummings and Joe Tomlinson in the powerhouse second row.

Callum Lamont and Dave Thompson are available, so this could change the front five.

Robbie Pattinson looks likely to link-up with Chris Park as they look to build a partnership over the season.

Ryan Carter should find himself in the centres and, with Jarty Robinson available, the strong-running wing man could well move in one.

Craig Mounsey is likely to hold the 15 shirt, so with Kyle Barnes, Sy Robertson and others available, they have every opportunity to take Whitehaven on.
