Castleford lock out Millom resistance

MILLOM travelled deep into Yorkshire and for a third consecutive week, and came away pointless with a much-changed side.

Once again, the players drafted in wore the shirts with pride and coach Anthony Murray could not have been happier with the performance of all 17.
Millom started the stronger against high-flying Cas and within six minutes had registered the first score, Paul Carter crossing the whitewash and Joe Shaw converting for 6-0.
It took Lock Lane time to respond, as good defence by Millom and indiscipline from the hosts saw the ball changing hands several times.
Cas scored a converted try 26 minutes in, after good passing along the line stretched the Millom defence, and they scored again five minutes later after their forwards broke through.
Lock Lane ended the half right on the whistle when a missed knock-on followed by a dubious forward pass were missed by the officials and they scored out wide for 16-6.
Castleford scored first after the break as they stretched Millom out wide, but the Woollybacks rallied and Garry Carter latched on to some good linking passing to score and make it 20-10.
The game remained tight for the majority of the second half, as good defence from both teams saw several sets completed before Castleford gave the scoreline a flattering look with three converted tries in the final stages.
Joe Shaw, Josh Banham, Lee Edmondson and Garry and Paul Carter were best for Millom, with the latter receiving the man-of-the-match award.
