Dalton 14 Ulverston 22

(Ulverston win 34-19 on handicap)

ULVERSTON lifted the Harry Warman Trophy at Craven Park, but were pushed all the way by Dalton.

The Dragley Beck side shot into an 18-0 lead after only 21 minutes, and it looked like it was going to be a long evening for Dalton.

However, inspired by Harri Brown and Joe Crarey, the Kelland Park side came back into the frame in the second half, only to find the deficit too great to overcome.

Dalton took the game to their opponents early on, and a fine break from Brown saw him go up field, only for opposite number Jordan Moyes to pull off a fine tackle.

Ulverston took the lead with a fine try on six minutes, as half-backs Marc Storey and Connor Saunders linked for Duane 'Dinger' Bell to break down the touchline. He fed Ryan John, who turned the ball inside, where Moyes was on hand to score. Saunders added the conversion

Paul Woodburn came to the fore in Ulverston's raids with his strong running, and they moved further ahead when Storey fed Saunders with a neat pass to score under the posts. He also tagged on the goal.

On 21 minutes, Bell burst through and passed to Moyes, who went in for his second try, also converted by Saunders.

Dalton had it all to do, but they started to get their act together, with Lee Park going close before Crarey's neat ball found Brown, who sliced through the cover to score out wide. Crarey converted from the touchline.

Another Dalton raid ended when Jack Gordon's pass went into the hands of Storey, who raced clear – only for Brown to come out of nowhere and haul him down. But the Dalton man was penalised for holding on for too long and was sin-binned.

Ulverston increased their lead when Sam Williams and Moyes paved the way for Whinfield to score with ease

Dalton came back at them with a Crarey break, only for the ball to come free in the tackle.

Keiron Potter – who was named man-of-the-match – was having a strong game for Ulverston, along with Ryan John, but it was Dalton who were putting points on the board after Bell was sin-binned for an offence in the tackle.

From the tap, Crarey and Clayton linked for Geddling to score. Crarey was then held up over the line prior to Clayton sending Tyson in for a try, but time ran out for them.
