ULVERSTON are aiming for their first win of the season when they take on fellow strugglers Hindpool Tigers in tonight's Barrow and District League clash, writes Jeff Coward.

The bottom side travel to Brisbane Park for the showdown with the second-bottom side and it promises to be a close-fought encounter between the two.

Roose Pioneers and Dalton will look to put some distance between each other when they face off at Redwaters, with both sides currently level on four points in mid-table.

Askam welcome Walney Central in a match where the sides come into it having progressed in the Cumbria Shield last week, and it is an encounter which is set to be fast and open with both teams having a number of exciting players.

Walney overcame fierce rivals Island in the Cumbria Shield, with Harry Gee and Declan Gavin grabbing two tries apiece in a 36-16 win. Conner Pearce and Jacob Helyor added one apiece, and Dave Nicholson landed all six conversions.

Chris Burns, Tyler Lancaster and Matty Brown replied for Island, while Ade Wright kicked two conversions.

Meanwhile, Askam's Shield match saw them see off Roose 30-12, having been 22-0 up at half-time. Brad Jackson led the way with four tries for the Fallowfield Park side and landed three conversions as well.

Dale Lampton and Lee Alexander went over for Askam as well, with Danny Tyson, Danny White and Jordan Ashton replying with unconverted tries for Roose.

This year's Frank Reid Trophy final will take place at Craven Park on Wednesday, May 24, with Walney and Island facing off for the prize.
