BRAD Singleton admits it will be strange to line-up against Danny McGuire tonight, as the stand-off faces his former club for the first time.

McGuire spent close to 20 years at Headingley and played in eight Super League Grand Final-winning teams before joining the Robins in the off-season.

The 35-year-old had been with the Rhinos for the entirety of Barrow Island product Singleton's time there, and the big prop knows it will be unusual to see him play for another team.

“I've been at Leeds since 2009 and he has been an ever-present in that time,” said Singleton. “It was weird with him not being there, and he is missed both on the pitch and off the pitch.

“He's a great lad, and it will be very weird to see him out there in a different colour and playing against me.”

While McGuire has moved on, Singleton has confidence in his replacement at Leeds, Richie Myler, and his ability to fill the void.

“It's a massive position in the game, and with Richie slipping in there, I think he's of the same calibre (as McGuire), he said. “I know he doesn't have as many rings and trophies as the likes of Danny, but I think he's ready to hit his potential at Leeds.”
