SIXTEEN-YEAR-OLD old Zac Steel made a try-scoring debut in Askam’s 34-6 victory at Hunslet Warriors to make it two from two and stay top of the ladder in National Conference Division Two.

Well led by man of the match Tom Hopkins, the Villagers ran in eighteen first-half points without reply despite the blustery, snowy conditions.

The home side only registered six second-half points in reply to a further 16 from the visitors.

Sam Dowsett was back to his best as he claimed a hat-trick of tries, with Adam Jackson and Tom Wilkinson also crossing the whitewash. Kris Tyson added five goals.

Millom remain pointless after going down 20-18 at Salford City Roosters. The home side sealed victory in the dying seconds. Millom have lost their opening two fixtures, both by two points.

Tries for the Woollybacks came from Ethan Kelly, with two, and Hanley Dawson, plus three conversions from Lee Postlethwaite.

Jamie Morrow ran in four tries as Walney made it two from two in Division One of the North West Men’s League.

Cents won on the road at Latchford Albion 28-16. Elliott Bibby also touched down with George Nicholls adding three goals and Dave Nicholson adding goals. Stu Tippett was Cents’ man of the match.

There was no joy for Ulverston as they went down 20-14 at Leigh East A after trailing 20-4 at the break.

James Armistead, Liam Whinfield and Connor Saunders crossed for tries, with the latter adding one conversion.
