WATH BROW HORNETS A 12 BARROW ISLAND 66

BARROW Island stormed to a convincing victory at Wath Brow A when they clashed in the Cumbria Men's League.

The Rating Lane outfit ran in 20 points in as many minutes to virtually put the game to bed as Sam Jones, Richard Chatfield, Blaine Marwood and Chris Burns touched down with Ryan Clegg adding three goals.

Centre Jones added a second try on 25 minutes when he cut inside a couple of defenders and Jack Sutherland crashed over after receiving a Richard Chatfield short ball, and with Clegg again on target Island went in 32-0 ahead at the break.

Island were soon back into the groove in the second half when Sam Attard made a 30-yard run, weaving his way through a scrambling defence, to touch down with Clegg again converting.

The Brow kept plugging away and got their reward in the 50th minute with full-back Matt Sibbald going over, he also converted.

But Island added to their tally when Jones took advantage of a stretched defence to go over for his third try with Clegg goaling.

Brow prop Aiden Coulthard got over the line with Matt Sibbald converting to reduce the deficit, but the final quarter saw the Island score four further tries.

Dan White stretched over, Joe Spencely then went over the whitewash with Clegg on again target.

Perry Singleton then scored in the corner, with Ian Irvine, in the last minute, scoring under the sticks, Jack Sutherland converting.

Jack Casey and Jones were the respective team's man-of-the-match.
