A TOUGH assignment awaits Barrow Island tomorrow as they host league leaders West Bowling.

Millom start a run of home matches at Devonshire Road, with Hindpool also on home turf.

BARROW ISLAND v WEST BOWLING

(Rating Lane, 2.30pm)

CALLUM Nelson is in line for his first senior Barrow Island game for 12 months after undergoing surgery for a knee problem.

He comes into an Island side seeking to topple Conference Division Three leaders West Bowling.

Ryan Clegg moves into the second row after a spell in the back line, while Joe Spencely misses the next two games through suspension.

Coach Joe Elliott is looking forward to a game he believes Island can win – despite facing a team who have lost only twice this season.

He said: “They are the best team we have played this season, they are good all-round having one or two ex-pros, but I feel if we perform to our potential we can get a result.

“We did well in the away game with four 16-year-olds in, while this time we will have a strong bench.

“We trained hard this week, had a good run-out with Barrow on Tuesday, and got a lot out of that session.”

MILLOM v SADDLEWORTH

(Devonshire Road, 2.30pm)

ADAM Kelly, Tom Newbiggin and Chris Warren return for the Woollybacks as they look to bounce back from National Conference Division Two defeat at Askam.

Several players are missing due to Kendal Calling, but coach Tom Sibley is still able to name a strong squad.

“We have three home games on the trot,” he said. “I am looking for three wins so we can climb away from the relegation area.

“We played well in patches at Askam, but we need to be more consistent. I’m sure we can bounce back and get the two points.”

HINDPOOL TIGERS v BAMBER BRIDGE

(Brisbane Park, 2.45pm)

TIGERS will keep faith with the 13 lads who travelled to Wigan St Pat’s last week, despite having several players back in contention.

Coach Phil Cubiss said ahead of the North West Men’s Division One match-up: “Those lads will have the opportunity to start. They went to St Pat’s and deserve to be in the starting line-up.

“We had the chance to win, but having no bench went against us.”

Kendal Calling takes away Scott McGuckin, Jamie Lynn, Brad Wrightwebb, Dale Sneesby and Jordan Mason, but with 24 players at training this week, Cubiss has enough options for his 17.

DRIGHLINGTON v ASKAM

ASKAM travel to Drighlington in National Conference Division Two looking to pick up the points as they aim for a top-four finish.

Joe Sattherthwaite and Tom Askew are unavailable, but Adam Jackson and Sam Dowsett are back in contention.

“We need to win and push up the table, and build on our win over Millom in a game where we were strong in the second half,” said coach Mike Wilson.

DISTINGTON v WALNEY CENTRAL

BRAD Nicholls’ season and career is over after damaging his elbow in the recent game at Ulverston.

The wily half-back, who has given great service to the club for several years, has decided to call it a day.

Cents Coach Jan Elliott delayed naming his squad until he has a roll-call, but is expecting a tough Cumbria League encounter.
