ULVERSTON are seeking to rebound from a loss in the Cumbria League tomorrow, with Seaton Rangers the visitors to Dragley Beck.

Roose Pioneers face the trip to Glasson Rangers, while Askam can secure a home play-off in the National Conference League Division Two with victory away to St Helen-based outfit Blackbrook.

Division One sees Millom welcome fellow strugglers Ince Rose Bridge, while Barrow Island and Hindpool have been let down by opponents and Walney Central have conceded the points in their Cumbria League match after pulling out of their scheduled trip to Distington.

ULVERSTON v SEATON RANGERS

(Dragley Beck, 2.30pm)

ULVERSTON look to put behind them last week’s defeat at the hands of Barrow Island behind them when they entertain Seaton at Dragley Beck.

Missing out are the Spedding brothers, Jake and Tom, along with Matt Storey, but back in contention are Mike Reekes and James Porter.

“We have two games to go (Wath Brow away next week) and it is our intention to win both games,” said Ulverston coach Phil Atkinson, who has yet to finalise his 17-man squad.

“The double is on after our 13-12 win at Seaton, a game that saw the lads pull out all the stops.

“We took a very inexperienced team up with us and it was probably our best performance of the season.”

A minute’s silence will be held prior to kick-off as a mark of respect for Jimmy Thompson who passed away this week.

Thomspon, father of former player Dave, was a staunch supporter of the Dragley Beck club for many years, supporting Dave throughout his career from the mini rugby section through to open-age.

ROOSE PIONEERS v GLASSON RANGERS

(Redwaters, 2.30pm)

PIONEERS have been hit with a double whammy ahead of their game at Glasson, with Glen Phillips and Jordan Mays ruled out for lengthy spells.

Mays was injured in the first minute of last week’s encounter with Ellenborough and returned to action despite being off the field in pain for over an hour. However, he has been diagnosed with a ruptured kidney and requires surgery.

Meanwhile, stalwart Phillips has suffered a serious ankle injury just a few games into his comeback following several months on the sidelines with a knee injury.

For tomorrow’s clash, Ade White, Dan Sharp and Mike Bower return, while Aaron Pike has returned to Furness RUFC.

“This is a game I am confident of winning,” said Roose coach Steve Neale. “We have a pretty decent side out and we have to push on after last week’s defeat by Ellenborough (56-24) where we let a 18-4 lead slip.”

BLACKBROOK v ASKAM

TWO points from their remaining two games will ensure Askam finish second in National Conference Division Two and earn a home tie in the play-offs.

However, they travel to the St Helens-based side who have strung together several wins in recent weeks.

The Villagers have been dealt a bitter blow with top forward Tom Hopkins ruled out for the rest of the season after breaking his hand, a similar injury to skipper Mark Tyson. On the plus-side, back in the fold are two other Toms – Wilkinson and Goffatt.

Coach Mike Wilson is aware of the task ahead, saying: “We know it is going to be difficult, this is our last away game (Saddleworth at home next Saturday follows) and all the lads are looking forward to it.

“But we showed a lot of character at Dudley Hill last week to win 20-18. It was a good performance, so I am looking for a repeat 80 minutes.”

MILLOM v INCE ROSE BRIDGE

(Devonshire Road, 2.30pm)

COACH Tom Sibley is able to field one of his strongest line-ups this season for the visit of the Bridge, who were dealt a blow this week when leading try and points-scorer Robbie Valentine was hit with a massive 16-match ban for three separate offences in a recent game with Skirlaugh.

Back to boost Sibley’s squad are Rickie Donaghue,Warwick Carter, Steve Dawson, Owen Myers and Paul Carter, with work ruling out Jonathan Hodgson and Hanley Dawson returning to university.

Full-back Ross Brooks is rated 50/50 with a shoulder injury, but Sibley is hopeful he can get the green light.

“I am confident we can get the points,” said Sibley. “It has been a long season, but it is my aim to finish on a strong note.”
