A FAMILIAR face will be in action at Dragley Beck tomorrow when Uiverston host Hensingham in the Cumbria League.

Liam Campbell, the former Barrow Raiders half-back, will line up for the table-topping visitors as Phil Atkinson's side aim to get back to winning ways in the division.

The day's National Conference League action sees Millom and Barrow Island both at home in Division Two and Three respectively, with the Woollybacks welcoming Bradford side Dudley Hill and Island up against Waterhead.

Elsewhere in Division Two, Askam head to West Yorkshire for a meeting with second-placed East Leeds.

ULVERSTON v HENSINGHAM

(Dragley Beck, 2.30pm)

FORMER Barrow Raiders favourite Liam Campbell returns to the south of the county when he lines up for undefeated Cumbria League leaders Hensingham.

Campbell, who was forced to retire from the professional game due to a neck injury, has been playing rugby union up the coast and joined Hensingham for the 2017 Cumbria League season.

Campbell will come up against an Ulverston team looking for a win after several defeats in recent weeks, included a double loss to Wath Brow A.

Back in contention are Matt Dean, Liam High, Eric Hill and Che Smith, but missing out are James Armistead, James Porter Jack Akred and Tom Spedding.

“We need a win after those defeats recently,” said Ulverston coach Phil Atkinson, who was assistant coach at Barrow during some of Campbell's time there. “I can't fault the effort and commitment, but indiscipline is costing us dearly and we must stamp it out.

“We have talked on this matter in training and we must take that talk into the game as you can't afford to be punished against top sides.

“We played them (Hensingham) in the semi-final of the Cumbria cup and did well at times, so if we can compete who knows what the result can be?”

MILLOM v DUDLEY HILL

(Devonshire Road, 2.30pm)

MILLOM were denied an away win at Crosfields last week, when a drop-goal seconds from the final whistle enabled the Warrington side to make it 21-21.

Coach Tom Sibley is confident the draw will put them in good stead for the visit of the Hill.

The Woolybacks boss said: “It was a good result for us. One or two decisions went against us when we were 20-10 up, and they came back and salvaged a point.

"Crosfields were a big side, but in the heat we got on top and the same this week – Dudley are a big side, so another hot day will suit us.

“We need to start picking up points especially at home if we are to pull away from the relegation zone (Millom sit third-bottom).”

Back to boost the squad are half-backs Adam Kelly and Jonathan Hodgson, along with Bobby Wright.

BARROW ISLAND v WATERHEAD

(Rating Lane, 2.30pm)

ISLAND take on fellow strugglers Waterhead, and welcome Joe and Will Mallinson into the squad. Gareth Shaw is unavailable, but otherwise it will be a similar side to that which lost 40-20 at Oldham St Annes.

Despite the defeat, coach Joe Elliott was pleased with performances of Ian Irvine and Jamie Curtis – both back from injury – plus the debut of former Millom player Josh Banham.

“We are getting more players back on board and that can only be good for competition for shirts, and not far off are long-term injured Callum Nelson and Ben Garner,” said Elliott.

“It is nice to get back to be able to select the squad rather than squad pick itself with so many reasons for lads not being available. We look to have turned the corner, and had almost 30 players training earlier this week.”

Former Barrow Raiders player Liam Harrison has resumed training after breaking his leg in Island's pre-season game at Askam.

EAST LEEDS v ASKAM

ASKAM coach Mike Wilson is looking to put last weeks 24-14 home defeat at the hands of Wigan St Judes behind him when the Villagers face second-placed East Leeds.

“We must stop shooting ourselves in the foot like we did last week,” said Wilson. “We gave away too many needless penalties, plus we seemed to drift out of the game creating very little in the second half.”

Not making the trip to Yorkshire are Jamie Butler, Gary Bolton, Mark Tyson, Rory Marshall and Joe Dowsett, but on the plus-side, Russ Bolton, Jaje Spedding, Tom Butler are back in contention, as is debutant Brad Jackson.

Keir Shepherd returns after a successful international trial which saw the 17-year-old make the final 20 for the England Community Lions under-18s squad to face Scotland and Wales later this year.

BARROW AND DISTRICT LEAGUE

JOE Crarey's 22-point haul helped Dalton seal their place in the final of the Harry Warman Cup with a thrilling 43-36 victory over Walney Central.

The visitors went into the tie at Kelland Park with an eight-point handicap advantage, and young hooker Crarey ran in a hat-trick of tries and kicked five goals. Jack Gelling added two more tries and Adam Ellis was also among Dalton's scorers.

Cents' replies came from Matt Solsby, Tom Lamb, Declan Gavin, Danny Johnson and Harry Gee, with Connor Pearce adding four goals.

Dalton's opponents in the final will be Ulverston, who progressed after Barrow Island were forced to forfeit their semi-final due to a shortage of players.

In the league, Roose Pioneers were 28-10 winners at Hindpool Tigers thanks to tries from Steve Perry, Joel Williamson, Corne Ells, Scott Tranter, Dan White and Jordan Ashton, with Perry adding two goals.

Cameron Hayton and Mitch Stewart crossed for Hindpool, with Connor Goodings adding a goal.

Tonight's Fixtures (7pm): Roose Pioneers v Walney Central, Dalton v Hindpool Tigers.
