TEENAGER Luke Holliday is set to get a chance for Askam when they welcome Leigh East in National Conference League Division Two.

The hosts are aiming to take a step closer to a top-four spot against a team who have struggled so far this year.

ASKAM v LEIGH EAST

(Fallowfield Park, 2.30pm)

ASJAM'S push for a top four place continues with the visit of the East and they hand an opportunity to 18-year-old Luke Holliday who moves up from 18th man last week into the 17-man squad.

The Villagers are on a roll four wins on the trot and nine from their last 10 outings and although Leigh are not having the best of seasons, Askam coach Mike Wilson is not getting carried away and thinking it will be an easy win.

“We are going okay, but have still a lot to do to get into the top four,” said Wilson. “We had a good win over Dudley Hill last week (42-20) and are now a point behind the Bradford side, who are in fourth place.

“We still have a long way to go and have to face the top three – Oulton, St Judes and Thornhill – but we are taking it one game at a time.

“We let in a couple of soft tries last week against a niggling side, but we kept our discipline and got the result. Leigh are not going too well, but we must not get complacent and mess up.”

Marc Dixon, Sam Dowsett and Dale Lampton are unavailable, but back in the fold are Jack Cairns and Brad Kavanagh.

HENSINGHAM v WALNEY CENTRAL

MIKE Backhouse makes a rare appearance for Cents as they aim to become the first team to lower the colours of the west Cumbrians in the league. A win will seal the title for a Hensingham side led by former Barrow player Liam Campbell.

Stu Tippett and Dave Nicholson return, while injuries rule out Mike Elliott and Jordan Staffieri.

“It is going to be tough,” said Walney coach Jan Elliott. “They have been the in-form team all season, but you never know – it's on the day.”

Cents will also face Hensingham in two weeks at the Recreation Ground in the final of the County Cup.
